Bert Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 Apparently so. Would need to see it again on TV, but Henderson was in no mans land for that. If he'd have stayed on his line, or at least shouted Stearman then there may have been a different outcome.
Maybes Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 We started off the better of the 2 teams. Then they score with their first shot, which Hendo should've easily had, and if he knew how to communicate with his defence im certain the second goal wouldn't have happened. Still, i won £20, shame i didn't have Surman 2-0 in the scorecast, i would've been £30 better off. truly am disappointed with the outcome of todays result!I was optimistic before the game thinking we could force a replay. oh boy how wrong can you be?! woeful is the word thatsprings to mind. gary megson anyone? at least we could defend under him!!!
nandojolob Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 We've gone from having the best defensive record in the Championship to having a team leaking goals left right and centre. Do you think that it's because we're playing four at the back instead of the five under Megson ? I think that Megson could see that we were not good enough to play four at the back so played five to mask our deficiencies. I'm not a great Megson fan, but while you don't leak goals you've got a chance. I've supported this club for over 40 years now and just want the pain of watching this utter crap to stop. I don't know the answers, but like someone previously said, you just want to see 100% commitment from your players. Is that too much to ask for ? Blue forever.
The Shreds Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 Holloway achieved more position changes in 5 minutes today than Jenna Jameson does in a 6DVD set.
Leicester Lass Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 BBC Report: Steve Howard twice went close for the Foxes either side of Surman's strike from the edge of the penalty area. And Vignal crashed home a free-kick from similar distance to put Saints in control, which they never let go of. Sorry, what?
Scow Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 If he'd have stayed on his line, or at least shouted Stearman then there may have been a different outcome. Indeed. Henderson is hardly the most vocal and Stearman probably has no confidence in him.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 Utterly dreadful. Great support from our fans though. I really have no idea what Barry Hayles is for. I can't believe we keep signing players like this. He's just another Newton/Cort. Howard must be wondering whether the three-and-a-half year contract was worth it to play in this team every week. Absolute shite. They're unquestionably the worst Leicester team I've ever seen. The midfield. Christ alive. If you didn't laugh, you'd cry. Disgusting.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 Oh and they were both penalties Southampton should have had for the fouls by Sheehan and McAuley in the first half. Definite penalties and the McAuley tackle should have been a red card.
Bert Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 Oh and they were both penalties Southampton should have had for the fouls by Sheehan and McAuley in the first half. Definite penalties and the McAuley tackle should have been a red card. I thought he got the ball, and the lino was well placed. Sheehan's foul was a definite penalty. Also, shit, i forgot the paper, sorry.
Scow Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 Oh and they were both penalties Southampton should have had for the fouls by Sheehan and McAuley in the first half. Definite penalties and the McAuley tackle should have been a red card. The one on Wright-Phillips through on goal? If so, I thought he got some of the ball first to be honest.
Thracian Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 Oh and they were both penalties Southampton should have had for the fouls by Sheehan and McAuley in the first half. Definite penalties and the McAuley tackle should have been a red card. If you carry on like this you'll make me glad I didn't go!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 That proves it then! I thought it was a pen to be honest. Probably won't see a replay now. I'd have been screaming for that if it was the other way round and you all know you'd have done the same. We should have had a penalty after about 80 minutes when Howard got a shove in the back inside the six yard box too. That was even more blatant than either of theirs.
MikeyT Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 If you carry on like this you'll make me glad I didn't go! You mean you arent glad already?
Anish Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 Utterly dreadful. Great support from our fans though.I really have no idea what Barry Hayles is for. Absolute shite. They're unquestionably the worst Leicester team I've ever seen. The midfield. Christ alive. If you didn't laugh, you'd cry. Disgusting. I said the same thing after the QPR game - Barry Hayles is not the answer to our goalscoring problems. Any credibilty that Holloway has in indentifying our deficiancies is immediately wiped out when he signs somebody like Barry Hayles. Complete garbage. I'm glad this was 'only' a cup game but it won't have done anyone any good losing in such a desperate manner. Holloway needs to take a look at himself now - his record has been abysmal and by far worse than any of his predecessors, with the same players.
Joe. Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 Got back about 20 minutes ago. All in all, an enjoyable day out, although very disappointed we won't be in the hat for the fourth round draw. the FA Cup is a competition I like very much. Today was not good on the pitch. First half, although we didn't play great, the scoreline was slightly harsh. Southampton took their chances and came through with a two goal advantage. Henderson should have definitely saved the first one, but I'm not too sure what exactly happened with the second one. Anyway, the man is a liability, simple as. Hayles' miss just summed it up at the end. Pretty poor to say the least. I think the whole end of our support (which was very good I thought) wondered quite how he didn't manage to put the ball in the back of the net. Ah well, maybe next year eh?
Simi Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 Fez, McAuley definitely took the ball. As for the fans saying "it's only the cup". What a load of bollocks that is. I didn't get up at 6am to go and watch my team and think "it's only the cup". Whether it was the cup or not, we've been comprehensively beaten by a side in the same league as us. The performance was quite frankly gutless. Disgusting. Seems that most of the fans in football are forgetting what the cup is all about, along with most of the Premiership. As Bert said we did start the match the better of the sides, but with four strikers on the pitch, not creating a chance in the first half is quite frankly disgraceful and unforgivable. We were exposed every single time by the same ball over the top of our centre halves heads, they were constantly exposed for pace and I don't know how they didn't score from one of those chances. Howard continued to do everything he could but the sheer amount of clueless footballers around him just made it look like he shouldn't have bothered. Some of our passing was dreadful, the amount of times we couldn't make simple 5 yard passes was embarrassing. Henderson once again was caught in no mans land for the second goal and his footwork for the first goal was extremely shoddy. This man just cannot control any situation and it seems that the defence has little or no respect for him. If he's in goal for rest of the season we're going to need to sign someone that's going to score two goals a match. I hear Saha sits on the bench a lot? Oh, and singing Fulop for Leicester was a bit stupid really. If Henderson wasn't already nervous, his own fans chanting for another goalie right behind him must have filled him with confidence. Chant of the day though has to "My Garden Shed" or even "Your grounds to big for you". Nice one people.
lildave3 Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 Grr. We shippedy woppedied far too much, shit goalkeeping, shit defending, shit midfield(ing), shit attacking, shit chants.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 Leicester boss Ian Holloway says his midfielders in the FA Cup loss to Southampton were so young "they should have been playing in nappies" (Mail). What a load of bollocks that statement is.
davieG Posted 6 January 2008 Author Posted 6 January 2008 Wasn't it any 2,3,4,5 from these: Stearman, Hume, Kenton (King 45), Wesolowski, Hayles, Fryatt (N'Gotty 45)?
shrood Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 shit chants Start some different ones then geez. It's pretty easy at away games, at least a few people will join in with pretty much anything.
Simi Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 Wasn't it any 2,3,4,5 from these:Stearman, Hume, Kenton (King 45), Wesolowski, Hayles, Fryatt (N'Gotty 45)? I think everybody had a stint in midfield yesterday. It started like this... Halyes------Kenton-----Weso------Hume Then this... Hayles---Stearman-----Weso------Hume Then this... Halyes----N Gotty----Weso-----Hume Then I think it went like this... Fryatt-----N Gotty----Weso-----Hume To be honest it may as well of been... ____------_____----________---______

Didn't we do better when the nappy wearers were in midfield?
Simi Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 Apart from King and Weso not too many nappies just a few too many incontinents. Didn't we do better when the nappy wearers were in midfield? Oh, I forgot about King. King actually tried to make some things happen and I thought he was one of our better players if that is at all possible. I can't understand why he didn't start to be honest. Even if Holloway doesn't rate him that high, he is a MIDFIELDER and a better one than Kenton, who incidentally is a DEFENDER. King for right back.
lildave3 Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 Oh and btw, if you were singing 'we want our Fulop back', I dislike you.
