joely22 Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 No worries! Rather stay in the Championship than go on a cup run to the 5th of the F.A Cup in all honesty. Hopefully Fulop will be signed in time for the Coventry game! And we can turn this horror season around! Keep the faith! I say that every week before trotting off to Pride Park...
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 just got back (live in bournemoiuth)...apart from Steve Howard everyone was an absolute disgrace. Hume was dire, Henderson was at fault for both goals, god knows how the 1st one went in and he flapped for the 2nd....I think we have to shell out for Fulop tbf, because the alternatives are a joke. Its looking likely that our survival will be based on getting good service to Steve Howard....... I'm starting to think anything but relegation will be a bonus this season.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 just got back pure crap glad i dont live in leicester or i would be put through even more of that sh*t! plus who were the kids on the train i could tell they post on here but they looked about 12
Thracian Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 We need a goalkeeper, a left back, 2 midfielders and a winger. Not really needing another mediocre forward. The obvious lesson here is that buying forwards has not helped. I'm not saying that they are no good or won't make an impact just that there are not urgent positions that we need.M Allen had realised this and now we are in the same position again. I was disappointed that we could not fight back today. Hold on. I very much doubt that anyone had a good game today. I am 100% certain from the radio commentary that everyone made mistakes. But you mention a left-back and I'll assume Sheehan had as hard a time at the back as everyone else. But he was still involved in three or four pieces of action that produced a disallowed goal, a header over from six yards that could have given us a lead, a close thing involving Hayles and a driven ball in near the end that Hayles almost turned in. Three or four potential goals. How many near things did Fryatt and Hume get involved with, or Weso and Kenton while they were on in the first half? And what about all the damn goals our centre-backs seem to be costing us in one way or another. We play with wing-backs. Both contributed in an attacking sense today by the sounds of things. But if you're going to play wing backs you have to have fast and alert covering players. Look how people like Vidic cover for United or even how the aged Giggs drives back to defend even at the end of a torrid cup match or their central midfielders who are there in support of everyone everywhere. I didn't hear comment about much of that happening. We're not operating as a team. The players must be uttterly bewildered by what is going on. Bad we might have been, but we drew the second half 0-0 when we settled the team down and stopped messing it about. There are bound to be more changes next week but the faster we get to a settled side the better. This is not simply about left-backs or wingers. It's about people operating as a unit and knowing what's required of them. How were we ever going to have that starting two strikers on the wings?
Wycombe Fox Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 Just got back. What an utter shambles!! Howard was the only one who appeared to have anything about him. My youngest wanted to hang around at the end to get some autographs but we left after a steward came out and told us that the City team were going to be a while as Holloway wasn't very happy and had them back out on the pitch. If we don't get another keeper, Fulop or anyone who isn't like Dracula (doesn't like crosses!), then we're destined for League One. Stearman, Hume...sod it what's the point of listing individuals? They were all pretty dire. Second to the ball all the time, taking an age to close down any player in possession. You know - the fundamentals. Not happy. Don't know why our goal was disallowed. Their keeper rose very high to catch a cross then fell heavily and spilled the ball which one of our lads turned in. Ref gave a free-kick to Southampton. Looking back I'd say we were on top at that point. It went t*ts up after that.

Barber mentioned how we were second to the ball. It's been a problem all season. We've never seemed really fit and it was no different last season. There's no excuse whatsoever for that. And if I were MM I'd want to know why we're second to the ball PDQ. And why it's gone on so long.

And why it's gone on so long. I can't believe there's a physical reason for that and there have been games where the opposite is true - Aston Villa for one. It must be a mental thing and that is down to manager, especially one renowned for his motivational skills. The simple fact is, irrespective of the quality of players Ollie's not getting the best out of them, simply put he's failing and it cannot go on. He has got to stop making excuses and blaming lack of balance, lack of quality and start producing some points because these players are capable of that but they need the right guidence, encouragement and leadership from the man in charge - Ian Holloway.
Theboybroome Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 just cant be arsed really. Its getting tedious now. feel sorry for the fcukers who went down. I aint even looking forward to Cov next week. I just wanna go home and have my dinner. i hate football just shut up, shut up! cup means nowt! let's just stay up and build, stop being so fookn negative all of you!
davieG Posted 5 January 2008 Author Posted 5 January 2008 just shut up, shut up!cup means nowt! let's just stay up and build, stop being so fookn negative all of you! When we're shown a flicker of light at the end of this interminable tunnel - 4 years long now you may well see some positivity in return.
Wycombe Fox Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 just shut up, shut up!cup means nowt! let's just stay up and build, stop being so fookn negative all of you! That's what we've been doing for...how many years now? Did you go today? I hate being negative but I didn't spot anything to give me any postivity.
Matt Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 just shut up, shut up!cup means nowt! let's just stay up and build, stop being so fookn negative all of you! Because we're a totally different team in the league ain't we?! Playing amazing football, and nothing to worry about. Mate, people are just pointing out what's wrong, asif they have to point out our problems This is just another kick in the teeth.
Thracian Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 I can't believe there's a physical reason for that and there have been games where the opposite is true - Aston Villa for one. He has got to stop making excuses and blaming lack of balance, lack of quality and start producing some points because these players are capable of that but they need the right guidence, encouragement and leadership from the man in charge - Ian Holloway. I keep hearing about his motivational skills but they seem mighty strange to me. Media comments suggesting that half the squad is awful and how he's going to change it all damned quick might reflect many a manager's feelings at times but they don't endear you to the players already here. And endless team changes/system changes don't reflect confidence in the players either. In our curent situation they either reflect a lack of faith or a lack of knowledge about what each squad member can or cannot do. I was almost struck dumb when Holloway said he was going to have a look at everyone before making a decision about them - and promptly put people like Kaebi in the first team. I warned that all the info was there to be seen on the videos and the sooner he got familiar with everyone through those the better. Of course it is better to see people properly but we couldn't afford the luxury of trialing people in the first team - I've never heard such nonsense really. For all that though I felt we had to accept our new manager flaws and all because I could and can see no point in yet another change. If I had to judge today I'd would probably say the City job seems to big for Holloway to handle but I honestly see no real alternative to everyone keeping their cool and themselves showing some faith in the fella. He means well. I have no doubts about that. But whether he's clever enough or a subtle enough a psychologist to manage a club as big or potentially big as ours I'm not yet convinced. For me there have been too many mistakes which may actually reflect his own fears and uncertainties - not least concerning a chairman who is not known for his patience. But I have to believe he'll leaqrn and be a lot happier when there are more people in the team that he's chosen and who he believes in. I just hope he doesn't forget to properly integrate the established players. Because team spirit is vital in a survival battle.
CaptainClemence Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 This season has been a complete disaster so far. All that pre season optimism and the talk of promotion. The so called coup of signing Carl Cort and the unbelieveable signing of world cup star Kaebi. It has been just so disappointing and sad. I may have thought it was all worth it if we had hung on and beaten Chelsea but we couldn't even do that. This season has been by far worser than the previous few. 3 year plan Milan? well we will have to be promoted twice in 2 seasons now. Id say we were 59.9% likely to go down 40% to stay up 0.1% promotion. In my heart i feel we will stay up again though. Did you see Walshys column, he rekons we will finish 10th place this season
Leicester Lass Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 Jesus ****ing Christ that was horrible. Anyone else dreading the Coventry game on Saturday?
CaptainClemence Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 Jesus ****ing Christ that was horrible. Anyone else dreading the Coventry game on Saturday? i wouldn't be but as they beat Blackburn 4-1 i certainly am now. 3-0 Cov anyone?
TheBlinding Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 Just embarrassing. 5 Defenders, 1 Midfielder, 4 Strikers. We just had nothing.
Scow Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 That ranks as one of the worst games I've seen in a while. So what if it's 'just' the cup? It's still a game that the fans pay for and expect more than the dross that was served up. From the off it was all wrong - Kenton central midfield and Hayles on the right?!? Hayles then goes back in the middle to be replaced by Fryatt, Kenton moves to right back and Stearman finds himself in central midfield. We just looked so poorly prepared - lacking in organisation, cohesion and quality. I've never seen a side give the ball away in such easy positions, it really is embarrassing. For the first goal, Stearman was too weak in the challenge and allowed Surman to get his shot in across goal. Then you have Henderson, who came out to punch and completely missed the ball - Forest revisited. We need a goalkeeper quick - we don't score many goals and we're letting them in embarrassingly easy - recipe for relegation. Howard looked OK and had some good touches and flick ons - unfortunately we don't have players who can read situations like this and/or don't get in support. Fu ck off yer bastards.

Bert Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 We started off the better of the 2 teams. Then they score with their first shot, which Hendo should've easily had, and if he knew how to communicate with his defence im certain the second goal wouldn't have happened. Still, i won £20, shame i didn't have Surman 2-0 in the scorecast, i would've been £30 better off.
Leicester Lass Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 The second goal was an o.g. by Stearman wasn't it?!
MikeyT Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 Let it all out!!!!!! Soon as the first goal went in i knew that was the end, cos lets face it, if we had managed to get a couple back they would have probably scored again in about the third minute of extra time or something, like what seems to happen alot to us!
dandannieldanok Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 Fair play to the fans that went down there, amazing support considering the shit we're churning up week in week out.
Scow Posted 5 January 2008 Posted 5 January 2008 The second goal was an o.g. by Stearman wasn't it?! Apparently so. Would need to see it again on TV, but Henderson was in no mans land for that.
