Benji Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 Which chance are people talking about for Hayles? I was in the southampton corporate sitting on my hands in hope we'd score but instead i sat there watching that crock of shit while my gf's dad was having a great time Henderson 3 - great save from a corner otherwise a total liability, awful! Stearman 4 - few attempts to attack with urgency but still shit McAuley 5 - great tackle i think, either that or they should have had a penalty couldn't tell from other end Kisnorbo 4 Sheehan 4 Hume 3 - worst i've seen him play, on at least 4 occassions in the middle of the park under no pressure he just passed it straight to a red shirt Wesolowski 5 Kenton 4 Fryatt 3 - sell Hayles 0 - sell already Howard 6 - great in the air but offside about 20 times, 1st half i was often in line with the back 4 and he always sat a foot behind the defence, purposely or not i don't know, but didnt get away with it once today! King 3 - good connection on a shot, nothing else comes to mind N'gotty 5 - strong, covered defence well when others pushed up towards end

He's not bald Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 it helps you relieve yourself of just a little bit of anger3 or 4 new signings mr Holloway? how about a new team How about starting with a manager that actually know's what he's doing? His tactics, team selection and aqusitions are as vague and bizarre as his silly quotes...he's like rolling down a steep hill in a shopping trolley, idiotic, pointless,no sense of direction and bound to end in tears!
act smiley Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 Which chance are people talking about for Hayles? Bout 5 minutes from the end, ball played in low from the left and he's about 5 yards out, keeper's a bit out of position, goes wide.

Lineker's Left Foot Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 Silly question guys, but what central midfielders do we really have?? Is it only Clemence, King and Weso????
Eastern Fox Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 Silly question guys, but what central midfielders do we really have?? Is it only Clemence, King and Weso???? Yep those + Kish are our only natural central midfielders.
Finn Claw Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 Yep those + Kish are our only natural central midfielders. don't forget hellings..
Eastern Fox Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 don't forget hellings.. I'm not sure he's much of a 'natural' midfielder though, judging by his record at the club!
Hugo Sanchez Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 don't forget hellings.. I swear i saw him in working in Macca d's the other day.
Thracian Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 Silly question guys, but what central midfielders do we really have?? Is it only Clemence, King and Weso???? Only? We've actually used James Chambers, Kenton, Newton and N'Gotty as well in midfield but before we're ultra critical of those midfielders you mention I would say the following. All three have struggled to be fully fit. They've all had injuries and Weso/Clemence has probably been rushed back too fast at times because of their value to the team. King has suffered because, apart from his injury, he's not had sufficient football to be really fit and only gets part matches in the first team. That situation has, I've no doubt, contributed to their collectively indifferent season but there's the other, more important things. First the ridiculous passing out of defence. It would serve our defenders right if, when they lofted the ball downfield, the midfielders stayed still and told the defenders to chase it. That would sure get the message across that the ball is wanted to feet. But most City players value their wages too much to be so pointed so the message has to come from the manager and if it's been made he's being ignored which is unforgiveable in my view and not something any manager should accept. The other thing is passing options. Because we have no wingers and not even any genuinely creative strikers like, say, Billy McKay, the midfielders have precious few passing options and such options as they have are rapidly closed down. Unfortunately too, none of our midfielders have the pace to make their own space very easily and the three things combine to make it so hard for us to sustain attacks. Howard should help in this respect because we can by-pass midfield a bit and have people pick up from Howard's lay-offs. King, or some new player, is the man most suited to doing this from midfield, if he's given licence, but we also need frontmen of the type that can do it too, including some fast ones. If this were all to happen the question then would be who should be our holding midfield player? And that depends on whether you have mobile, footballing centre-backs or hackers.
Babylon Posted 6 January 2008 Posted 6 January 2008 Yep those + Kish are our only natural central midfielders. Kishishev is a right back converted to a midfielder.
