act smiley Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 If we're going to that level of if only's, we might as well say if only we could have bought all those terraced houses and expanded Filbert st.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 I don't think it's unusual that you struggle to hear the noise from other areas of the ground. I always used to go in the Kop at Filbo and it seemed like a brilliant noise, but the one time I went in the Carling Stand I was near the back at the other end of the ground, and by the time the noise from the Kop got there it was feeble
act smiley Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 Its certainly not something that only happens at the Walkers, but the position of the kop, L1, and the away fans really highlights it. Also, what does that banner thing that goes around the front of the roof do to the sound? I noticed at St.Mary's that despite a generally similar stadium their roof is a bit different and I wonder if that alters the acoustics any.
Floating Fox Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 Most of what has been said is bollocks, you can hear L1 from the "kop". Never sat in L1 so can't say anything but you could hear the "kop" in N block last year so I guess you can from L1. It's all about numbers. Your not going to hear a wall of noise when theres a couple 'a hundred in L1 etc. And to whoever said that all of L K & J3 stand & sing all game....Biggest load of shite I've heard on here. You've got half of L1 + A third of K + about 2 rows in J... I still think switching the "kop" is the answer tbh. EDIT: Mr Smiley - I did notice that So'tons roof was different to ours as well. About the only difference in the stadiums though!
Raj Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 I hear "KILL HIM" all the time....KILL HIM.......KILL HIM.......KILL HIM.......... My head hurts. This is like being back at School. L1's better than the Kop. No it aint yes it is Taint Tis taint Tis Taint Tis
Tevez Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 I was in the North Stand on Saturday. The noise from the Kop came over loud and clear.L1, on the other hand, was often outsung by the away support. And unless the numbers suddenly increase massively for whatever reason, that isn't likely to change. How did you work that one out Einstien?

Sooper Steve's shin Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 During the game on Saturday we were discussing the seemingly lack of vocal support. The fans at the top behind us were doing a fantastic job cheering the team on and singing out loud. My colleagues around us all agreed on one thing. Why do the club allow children in this area of the ground? We have a family stand, this surely is where they should sit. If I recall correctly at Filbo no children or concessions were allowed in the kop so why are they now? Also why not move the away fans to a section of the ground alongside where the Kop is, this would create a lively atmosphere. At Southampton last week the away fans are situated alongside in a ground that is of the same design. Alternatively, why not swap the Kop end and family stand around at the Walkers, this would surely solve the problem. Any thoughts anyone? Most of the people standing and singing at the back of the South Stand ARE kids! The one thing that will increase the level of noise around the ground is the team's performance. For the last four or five years we've had nothing to cheer or sing about. Saturday was a bit buzzier because of what happened on the pitch. And I find it funny that people hark back to the Filbert Street "glory days" - there were plenty of quiet games at that rickety old ground and we were all desparate to move out of there. In fact, our stadium was a bit of a joke to most of the other Premiership and Championship clubs (and a few lower down too). You cannot build memories and atmosphere into a brand new ground, but we have had some noisy days at the Walkers.
morris1234 Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 m sorry but if youre all moaning on how bad the kop is because you know poeple dont sing, then be heroes and get your own FUC*IN ARSES UP THERE yes you lot from L1 and sort it out, moaning wont suddenly make 1 or 2 more people maybe try and start a chant that nobody else knows!!!!!!!!!
