The Kop

During the game on Saturday we were discussing the seemingly lack of vocal support.

The fans at the top behind us were doing a fantastic job cheering the team on and singing out loud.

My colleagues around us all agreed on one thing.

Why do the club allow children in this area of the ground?

We have a family stand, this surely is where they should sit.

If I recall correctly at Filbo no children or concessions were allowed in the kop so why are they now?

Also why not move the away fans to a section of the ground alongside where the Kop is, this would create a lively atmosphere.

At Southampton last week the away fans are situated alongside in a ground that is of the same design.

Alternatively, why not swap the Kop end and family stand around at the Walkers, this would surely solve the problem.

Any thoughts anyone?

:D

Been talked many a time.

What have you done about it, or what will you do about it is the question?

Your idea's are right. But take Nblock last year, the club & fans doing something to address the atmosphere issue, but many people decided not to move. I bet you were one of these?*

*If not, I apologise!

They allow children in the kop because football is now a more family orientated affair and I doubt there's a single stand in Britain that has a no child policy.

They don't move the away fans because police think it will cause trouble because the away fans will have to walk right around the ground when entering/exiting.

They don't move the kop because people discuss it endlessly on forums and then never do anything pro-active enough to get them to reconsider.

Where were you sitting for the Cov game?

Was pretty decent atmosphere but yes, more could be done to make it better. It's been spoke about many times but nobody wants to do anything about it apart from the select few.

The Kop should be moved but I doubt it will be moved.

Shame....

Let Nblock be non st holders again :D

No point moving the Kop. Move the away fans around would be much more convenient.

But then what of L1? They wouldn't be able to taunt those away fans they wouldn't :D

Can't move the away fans as getting there coaches into the south part of the stadium isn't convenient.

You could move the "kop" though....

The away fans would never be moved next to the kop as it is now, due to health and safety reasons plus the away fans now have an easy get out because there parked on a main road. Switch the Kop and Family stand around and do it soon please.

The Kop should blatantly be moved where the family stand is and no concessions allowed in the Kop, its obvious it blatantly needs to happen to get a better atmosphere! And whats this about 'oh we can't sit over there cos we will get the sun in our eyes' B*llocks, which idiot came up with that one! Not only is it a really girly thing to say (and I think I even offend girls when I say that), but football is played mainly in the winter!!! How many sunny days realy do you get down the Walkers a season?? Not many!!! Something definately needs to be done or looked at again by the club!

What you say is correct but......

The Away area will not be moved. I sit in L1 and I looked at the away area and it is not possible to move the away area. I looked and there is 2 stairwells dedicated to the police either side of the away area. They are concreted in and will not be moved unless a major reason appears.

The Kop's concentrated atmosphere has been weakened to a pitiful state when you recall how it was! This has happened due to the elderly who don't sing and the children who have not been brought up in such an atmosphere. Also there are many people between 16-40 in the kop who don't sing either.

The police are anti moving the kop on safety reasons, and i personally believe the majority who sit in the kop are happy where they are. Will it make a difference to those who don't sing to be nearer to the away fans? not really, there miserable where they are, so it's highly likely they won't be any different reversed into the north stand.

Those that do sing in the kop will have to admit that L, K and possibly N will have to be the new fans areas. Just ask Tevez as it seems he will to turn to L1 after last satdi. Just like the majority of those in L and K have done and ended up next to the away fans.

The Kop is dead long live L1

Nah I disagree.

The Kop was actually pretty decent on Saturday compared to how it usually is. If we can get some results going and actually give the fans something to sing about it'll become much better I reckon.

fair enough..the kop may nt be as good as it was

but i think some sort of age limit is in order... not a ban on all children

me and my mates are 15/14/16 and we are as loud and rude

as the middle aged bloke next to us

ban young children... theres your solution

I agree with this.

I sit in L1 and the kop looked good on Saturday, although you can't hear them all the time it looked like there was a good atmosphere in there and im sure if we hit a bit of form and results started going our way then this would only get better.

It's true. I'm really in favour of moving the kop and have written a couple of letters to the club regarding it but I'm under no pretenses it would suddenly magic a deafening atmosphere, it'll still be the same bunch of boring sods. I'm not even sure many from L1 would go over there, they moved away from the kop because they were sick of people around them looking at them like they're a fooking hooligan if they start singing something that isn't leicester leiceSTER LEICESTER, why would they go through it again. What it would do though would mean that L1 could be heard more clearly from the kop and so we can get a bit of unity going between L and those that want to sing in the kop.

Only solution is to move back to Filbert St and build the old ground again.

SORTED!

You're right in that there were no concessions, but kids were allowed in; you had to pay full price to take them in there.

I don't see a problem with kids per se, it's the parents that I find are the problem.

Abit of a silly suggestion to even think about banning kids from ANYWHERE in the ground.

THEY are the future supporters of the Club.

Its good to have kids at the Walkers.

Dont try and restrict where they can sit, otherwise they wont bother.

Soon we'll have people calling for areas for non-whites!!!! :D:unsure:

What if though, you have a 35 year old man, who wants to sing all game long, but can't go in the "kop" because he has his 13 year old son with him?

You can't please everyone.

I don't really agree with you.

I am a concession, I am 14, yet I was one of the people at the back of the Kop trying to generate an atmosphere, along with other people in this forum.
