shen Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 can i just say why would king want to leave watford when fulham have a chance of relegation? $$$$$ and possibly because Fulham's squad is better? They've got a manager with pedigree and might, just might, stay up Oh, and Watford aren't promoted yet are they..
volpeazzurro Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 Agreed, the gulf between the likes of Fryatt and John is clear... both DJ and Howard are very capable forwards (when fit) and Hume will graft (which will sometimes pay off and sometimes not), but after years of being "patient" Fryatt has still yet to deliver anything suggesting he's anything more than a competent League One striker. The time to judge Fryatt is when for once he gets some decent service from a proper midfield, at last we seem to be going in the right direction re this thanks to Ollie so we'll wait and see. It was no use expecting Fryatt to be the big thuggish target man in hoof football or the speedy 'running into the channels player' because he quite clearly isn't either. Neither was Teddy Sherringham and he didn't do too bad did he! If it's not with us I'm convinced Fryatt will turn out to be something quite special as like Sherringham (only used as an example), he has good touch and vision, unfortunately the rest of the previous pre Ollie players hadn't. I would be very sad to see him go and Elvis and DJ imo could be shown the door first. Cheers.
Joe. Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 Can't say I'm too bothered, he's hardly set the league alight since he's been with us, what with injuries and everything. Watford will miss King a hell of a lot and John isn't the man they need to replace him I don't think.
Tevez Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 Watford put ransom on King's head King is hungry to return to the top flight Watford boss Adrian Boothroyd has warned Premier League clubs off Marlon King by slapping a £60m price tag on the striker. King, 27, has been linked with a move to Derby but Boothroyd insisted he will not be allowed to leave Vicarage Road. He said: "If we get into the Premier League we get £60m, so unless somebody has £60m, Marlon's going nowhere. "We haven't received a bid and Derby haven't got enough money. As long as I am here, he will stay." King missed much of Watford's brief stay in the top-flight last season through a knee injury. 606: DEBATE He'll look a fool when Chelsea weigh in with an offer of 59 million and he has to turn it down LKB Boothroyd sold Hameur Bouazza to Fulham earlier in the summer and allowed Ashley Young to join Aston Villa during last January's transfer window, but is determined to hold on to his prize asset. The Hornets boss said: "Hameur was a different kettle of fish, as was Ashley Young. Marlon King stays. "He is part of the core of the team who won promotion in 2006, He missed out last year in the Premier League, but he is going to get us back there. "He is a key part of my plans, so a move isn't going to happen, he is staying. "Is Marlon happy? I would think so, he was when I saw him last." 55 Million short Roy?!?
Geo V Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 He seemingly did OK for us but seemed over-weight and not match fit. Then again we have probably got him fir for Watford
Koke Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 He should have won us the game at Wolves. And that notorious toe-poking incident against Ipsiwch made us all giggle. Looked awfully lazy at times but then again was he ever match-fit? All in all, good luck in the future Collins, and if you score your first goal against us I'll ****ing break you in half.
CKB Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 Not really a major loss as he was never fully fit and due to it was lazy looking on the pitch, a fully fit Collins John may have been a value but he never was so end of story! I have to say tho 5 million for Marlon King? it's a transfer fee world gone mad!
The Stig Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 I rate Hume, Howard and DJ (when fit) higer than him. He has quality but is to lazy and has the wrong attitude to do well. Not bothered at all about his departure.

And you wonder why people moan about this country being full of foreign footballers when someone like Marlon King cost £5 million + John. I salute people like Wenger who buys his stars for peanuts abroad and doesn't get fooled into this media moaning about quota.

I remember i think sometime in the middle 90's we had a feast of stupid transfer fees, then it calmed down and now we are being hit again.. Michael Chopra 5 mil Kenwyne Jones 6 mil Craig Gordon 9 mil Marlon King 5 mil There's probably some others aswell i can't remember and yes 3 might be Sunderland but still either way it's pathatic sums of money, i reckon a good hard scouting system could get you 4 better players aboard for a max of about 2 million! If i was a manager i ain't gonna fork out 5 million on Marlon King, there's better aboard and for less.. Does that make me contribute to the problems with English football? nope it's the clubs problems in the end for pricing them

I've lost count of the number of times I've expressed this point upon people.
Filberts lovechild Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 I heard on Radio one that Marlon King has signed for Fulham with Collins John going the other way on loan for the rest of the season. I didn't think he was up to much anyway, very lazy, obviously thinks he's too good for this division, IMO obviously not! I know this isn't in the transfer section but leroy lita's not happy at Reading, how much for him or do you think we could get a cheeky loan deal??

Not bothered at all about his departure. Its actually been quite difficult to rate our strikers in recent times as we haven't had any creativity in midfield, especially from the wings so who knows if Hume, DJ or even Fryatt will actually start scoring plenty now they get the supply? It may well happen.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 17 January 2008 Author Posted 17 January 2008 Another exclusive for the Fezzler. I'm on fire.
