De Vries - 4 : Don't you play the lone Striker in training? Run man run! (and a header or too wouldn't go a miss!) Subs : Connolly - 5 Hughes - 5 McCarthy - 5

Ric Flair Posted 14 March 2005 Posted 14 March 2005 Walker 6 - Looked steady, but since he's come back we haven't won have we? Kenton 6 - Looks decent, thought the penalty was harsh. I think defensively we are sound and i'd be happy to see him stay permanently. Dabizas 7 - Did a fair bit of fouling, but I thought he had one of his better games for us. Greasy!!!!!! Dublin 7 - Solid game, looked abit knackered at the end but Blackburn didn't have a sniff. Maybury 7 - Looks just as good on the left as he does on the right, solid as a rock. Reid and Thompson had no joy out of getting past Maybury, premiership class I reckon. He is fastly becoming one of my favourite players, which isn;t that hard given the current crop of players! Gillespie 7 - If Gillespie could just be more clinical in his running and crossing, he would be extremely dangerous. He's more confident now though and deserves to be in our team. Was up for it against his old club. Gudjonsson 8 - Cracking display from the little man. He's starting to look more consistent and definately revels in the 5 man midfield. Bossed the midfield, unlucky not to score. Williams 7 - Some great touches of class and gets the teams passing well, thought he was going to score straight after Dickhead's penalty. Another player with premiership class in my opinion. Nalis 5 - Awful, didn't do anything. Considering he's usually in the thick of things he hardly touched the ball, I think if Hughes had started instead of him we'd of had more joy in attack. Tiatto 5 - Another shocking game from Tiatto, I can't remember the last time he impressed me. He's so one footed it's untrue, he was given the ball time after time and instead of making an intelligent pass he hung on to the ball desperately trying to get it at an angle on his left foot and lost it. I hope he finds his form again as he can be a menace. De Vries 6 - I thought he did reasonably well up on his own, was constantly fouled but the ref didn't want to know. I can't see why people are getting on at him already, give the man a chance for god sake. I rate him. Subs: Hughes 5, Connolly 5, McCarthy 5
Simon Posted 14 March 2005 Posted 14 March 2005 Walker- 7 (safe hands, sign him up for next season!) Kenton- 7 (penalty apart had a good game) Dabizas- 7 (Solid the whole game) Dublin- 6 (Defensively OK, wasted the ball a lot though) Maybury- 7 (although I still think hes more effective on the right) Tiatto- 6 (Put himself about but constantly got drawn into the middle) Gudjonsson- 6 (harried, but wasted too much of the ball) Nalis- 5 (Ineffectual, should have gone with Hughes) Williams- 7 (not his best game but looked the most likely to create) Gillespie- 6 (a good outlet down the right but again wasteful in possesion- twice he put is trouble defensively) De Vries- 6 (Nothing really went right for him the whole game but in some ways you have to make your own luck- JUMP!) Subs: McCarthy- 5 Hughes- 5 Connolly- 5
breadandcheese Posted 14 March 2005 Posted 14 March 2005 Walker - 7 - Didn't do anything wrong. Bossed the defence when needed. Easily the best keeper in the championship and I hope he accepts a pay cut to sign a new contract with us. Kenton - 7 - Played well. Thought it was a penalty. He was a bit naive to dive into a challenge in the box. Dublin - 7 - Solid game Dabizas - 7.5 - Had a good game. Excels when playing in a four man defence against a one man attack. Maybury - 7 - Solid game again. A bargain signing. Gillespie - 7 - Did well, always providing a good option down the right. Gudjonnson - 7 - Another decent performance Williams - 7 - Again played well Nalis - 5 - Went missing. Should have come off much much earlier. Tiatto - 5.5 - His control was woeful. At least he provided energy to the team. I think our team looks weaker down the left without Stewart to overlap Tiatto. Stewart may not be as good defensively, but he adds an attacking threat, penning down the opposition fullback. De Vries - 2 - An absolute shocker. That's two bad games in a row. Do you have lead in your boots? Doesn't run, doesn't jump. Big fat lump. Didn't ask any questions of the Blackburn defence. I pray he's still not match fit, because if he's currently fully fit, then.... Subs - had no time to make an impact. Levein - 5 - Bad game today. It was clear to me that De Vries was not putting enough pressure on the Blackburn defence. This was fine whilst our midfield competed and bossed the game. However, Nalis did his disappearing trick, and our midfield were overrun with Blackburn seizing the advantage. Should have swapped Hughes for Nalis in 60th minute, and brought Connolly on for De Vries. Nevermind. This is where we see how good a manger Levein is. The sign of a good manger for me is how they respond to mistakes. Let's get the points and pull clear of the relegation zone. Come on city.
fosseman Posted 14 March 2005 Posted 14 March 2005 Can't see who is going to score goals for us. Would almost put money on the drop. Too good to go down is a sign of complacent thinking.
Ricey Posted 14 March 2005 Posted 14 March 2005 Walker - 7 - Was calm when called upon Kenton - 7 - Looks a very solid player, has pace aswell as good defensive skills Dublin - 6 - Did OK but everytime he got the ball he looked uneasy and so many times he hoofed the ball out for a throw for no reason at all. Dabizas - 7 - Made some great challenges Maybury - 8 - Played very well down the left, was good going forward Gillespie - 8 - Made some great runs and gave us that attacking flair we needed Gudjonsson - 7 - Worked hard and got stuck in but gave the ball away too much Williams - 8 - Played very well, pity we couldn't of got him on the ball more Nalis - 5 - Didn't realise he was playing at times Tiatto - 6 - Got in the action but struggled to keep possesion De Vries - 6 - Did OK, he made a nuisance of himself
Nationwider Posted 14 March 2005 Posted 14 March 2005 Walker - 7 Kenton - 6 Maybury - 7* Dabizas - 7 Dublin - 7 Gudjonsson - 6 Nalis - 5 Tiatto - 5 Williams - 6 Gillespie - 7 De Vries - 6 Tactically, I thought the plan was about right. However, MDV was far too isolated. The Ref obviously spotted City's plan to win free kicks etc off MDV and made up his mind to not give anything to MDV all afternoon. In hindsight (a wonderful thing), Connolly might have played for Nalis, who I thought took far too long on the ball at times - as did Tiatto. Connolly might have linked better with MDV from a deeper role. It would be nice to score a goal tomorrow night.
Frenzied Posted 14 March 2005 Posted 14 March 2005 Walker - 7 Maybury - 7 Dabizas - 7 Dublin - 7 Kenton - 6 Joey - 7 Tiatto - 6 Williams - 6.5 Nalis - 5 Gillespie - 6 De Vries - 6 I thought De Vries looked quite good today. He's got a great touch for a big man and if it wasn't for some appalling refereeing decisions I think he'd have done even better. He also won the ball in the air a few times. Levein - 8. Tactically spot-on, although I may have played Hughes rather than Nalis. We defended superbly throughout and could have nicked a goal - just wasn't to be. Reminded me very much of an early O'Neill side.

rotherhamfox Posted 14 March 2005 Posted 14 March 2005 What on earth is going on with some of these ratings?!? Gudjonnson was awful as was Maybury, the best players for us were easily Nalis and Kenton.
