Ash Posted 13 March 2005 Posted 13 March 2005 No - Kenton went for a tackle which wasn't a foul , Pederson then went to check the other way and simply fell over Kenton legs which was still in a position from his original tackle ! Robbed !
Sparky Posted 13 March 2005 Posted 13 March 2005 looked at it several times and im sorry to say i thought it was a pen cant go to ground in your own box and not get the ball or your asking for trouble ............. ref was shit all round thou
shen Posted 13 March 2005 Posted 13 March 2005 Nope, after seeing the highlights, it wasn't a penalty. They had a better peno claim earlier though, as Mark Hughes pointed out...
foxesfan69 Posted 13 March 2005 Posted 13 March 2005 I wasn't really sure but i just saw it on t.v. and i have to say definately not. I am very angry and very dissapointed now. If we had really been given a good hiding 4 or 5 nil then no complaints but that has just p***** me off big time.
brfcstu Posted 13 March 2005 Posted 13 March 2005 Player slides in for challenge in box. Misses ball and hits player. Then proceeds to grab the front of the player, in full view of the linesman and pull him to the floor. No never a penalty?

Kenton slid in for the tackle, it was a risky one to make, but he did, Pedersen had pulled the ball back and Kenton was already on the ground by this point. Pedersen could well have stepped over him and proceeded to whip a shot in or cross the ball or something, instead he falls in a heap over Kenton. Wasn't a penalty, you had more of a shout with the first claim and even that was a bit touch and go because personally I couldnt see alot of contact coming from Nalis. Geez, the ref wasnt going to give it until he saw the linesman signalling otherwise =/
Wellman Posted 13 March 2005 Posted 13 March 2005 I've only seen it once and that was where I was sitting at the game and I have to see I'm not really to sure. 60:40 in favour of it not being a penalty
brfcstu Posted 13 March 2005 Posted 13 March 2005 Shaun, the ref couldnt see clearly, the lino could. I accept that Pedersen had already moved the ball, which makes the fact that Kenton took the player worse. Watch the replay - its available on BBCi, and just watch Kentons left arm, he reaches up and pulls MGP down. I am a fairly honest football fan, and all to often I have had to admit where we have been awarded things we shouldnt have been. But on this occasion I believe the correct decision was made.
Guest Posted 13 March 2005 Posted 13 March 2005 My gut instinct was not a penalty, and nothing Ienton, and the pathetic way in which he flung himself to the deck makes me feel more that it was never a penalty. If that had been De Vries, he's have been booked for gamesmanship.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 13 March 2005 Posted 13 March 2005 I couldn't tell when I was at the match and I didn't see the replay on the big screen but when I got home and watched the video of the match, I could see clearly. Kenton shouldn't have gone to ground like that but Pedersen turned and just jumped on top of him. If there's any doubt in the officials mind then a penalty shouldn't be given and judging by the delay in the linesman saying it was indicates that there was a doubt in his mind.

As for the hand, I didnt see in pulling myself, I would have to look at the replay again. But Id wager your guy could have easily stayed on his feet and kept posession after Kenton's failed sliding attempt. Overall, I think you were slightly the better side and thus deserved the win more, but the penalty was very debatable.
Little Nicky Posted 13 March 2005 Posted 13 March 2005 In all honesty I think kenton won the ball, but perhaps went in too hard, hence giving away the peno, I was angered however that the linesman saw the situation but the ref didn't, it was penalty but it shouldn't have been giving because the referee originally dismissed it! it's one of them isn't it, some refs give them, some don't!
Nationwider Posted 13 March 2005 Posted 13 March 2005 Just finished the videoed version of today's events.... Kenton - no. Dabizas(?) earlier - might have been a pen. Them's the breaks.
Chandler Posted 14 March 2005 Posted 14 March 2005 Of course it was a penalty! Didn't you know that: Prem Side (Home ground @ Home end) > Champ Team X minutes to go + dive = Stonewall Penalty Don't they learn you sums or summat these days like?
Simon Posted 14 March 2005 Posted 14 March 2005 I happened to think it was a penalty; I dont think Kenton needed to go diving in. However that just summed up our day- no decisions went our way...

Frenzied Posted 14 March 2005 Posted 14 March 2005 It was a poor attempt at a tackle but no penalty. Kenton didn't touch Pedersen as he slid in. Then Pedersen turned around and purposely fell over him. He was also going away from goal at the time. Terrible ref but we did ourselves proud, both the players and fans. Our support shows which of the two clubs is really a Premiership outfit

Ricey Posted 14 March 2005 Posted 14 March 2005 Kenton shouldn't of gone in like that but the fact is Pederson fell over Kenton after the tackle was made.
D4 Posted 14 March 2005 Posted 14 March 2005 the ref certainly didnt like de vries. racist ref. anyway i dont think it was a penalty at all. the ref took way too long! his insincts were "no". but they decided otherwise. having sed that if it happened to de vries wud we be going nuts saying, jesus that was a defo peno!!
shack Posted 14 March 2005 Posted 14 March 2005 Racist ref, ref was bent, ref was biased...blah, blah, blah...wahh, wahh, wahh... You're right, the ref went onto the pitch on Sunday with the sole purpose to make sure Leicester lost and Blackburn won!! ...Bollox, take your blinkers off clowns.

I lost count of the times De Vries was fouled and the number of times our players were pulled up for fouls which in the Championship wouldn't have been.
