Foals - Antidotes

now not meaning to offend people I'm not one for falling for what I consider this over hype of bands like Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand or whatever the current flavour of the month you must listen to according to Radio 1 and the NME is but I have just listened to some song called mathletics on their myspace site and I though it was ruddy bloody good to be honest!!

I might jump on the old rat race train and invest in this album when it appears if theres room on board

I haven't heard the music so it would be unfair of me to comment other than to say that they have stupid trousers and hair (which seems to be a pre-requisite of being in a band at the moment) but for those that are interested, they'll be on the next edition of the Culture Show on Saturday, which is worth watching even if you don't like Foals because Lauren Laverne presents it and she the most beautiful lady in the world ever

Hold the presses! Apparently British Sea Power will also feature. Set your Sky Plus/VHS/Betamax device right now

Well, I watched it and they seemed like upstanding young men. That said, their haircuts are rubbish, and as Mark Kermode (studio guest) said, they do sound a bit like Gang of Four, which isn't completely unfair. The bizarrest thing about them was that the singer claimed not to be able to play an 'E' chord, seemingly because all they've ever learned to do is play these little riffs high up the guitar neck, which might make them sound a bit different to everyone else.

They weren't offensively awful or anything, but it did smack of YET ANOTHER band that through no fault of their own is being built up into something MASSIVE that we'll all have forgotten about completely by the time the second album comes out

Don't stop there! At least go on their myspace and look at some others. ;)

Found the album floating around its pretty good. Would go see them live but closest is Oxford and those got snapped up instantly.

I really don't get the collective spaffing over this band. I think they're awful, the kind of thing they're doing has been done so much better before, wirey angular guitars, dancey/post punk influence. The singer's got a fooking annoying voice too, and the expression on his face annoys me too for some irrational reason making it all the harder to stomach them.

Just get some Les Savy Fav, seriously.

Everything's been done b4.

Great album.
