Head Honcho Posted 8 February 2008 Posted 8 February 2008 Just to let everyone know. I got an email today asking for my personal details. Very good looking and authentic site trouble is I don't bank with LloydsTSB! PM me if you have anaccount and I'll send you the email I received. I know it's said all the time but people still do it, so remember do not give out personal details unless you are on the official LloydsTSB site or any other bank for that matter-they will never ask for your personal details through an email.
Geo V Posted 8 February 2008 Posted 8 February 2008 There are loads about. Bank`s, Youtube sign ins, Ebay etc. So many requests that I just delete them all and just go to the sites when I need them. The dodgy buggers are always one step ahead of us though.
Bryn Posted 8 February 2008 Posted 8 February 2008 Banks will never, ever ask you for your personal details. Delete these on sight. In fact, there is an address you can forward them to so that they can be investigated, I'll have a look and see if I can find it.
Bryn Posted 8 February 2008 Posted 8 February 2008 Forward spam that is phishing for information to [email protected] (US Government, not UK) and to the company, bank, or organization impersonated in the phishing email. You also may report phishing email to [email protected]. The Anti-Phishing Working Group, a consortium of ISPs, security vendors, financial institutions and law enforcement agencies, uses these reports to fight phishing. Report Phishing** The Anti-Phishing Working Group is a volunteer organization. Due to the significant increase in phishing volumes and reports, there may be some delay in processing your phishing reports and membership requests. ** We maintain a repository of phishing scam emails and websites to help people identify and avoid being scammed in the future. If you have received a phishing email and would like to submit it to Anti-Phishing Working Group, please send it to [email protected]. We will review the message and any websites to which it links, and post it to the Phishing Archive on this site. Instructions for Submitting Phishing EmailAssuming you use Outlook or Netscape: 1. Create a new mail to [email protected]. 2. Drag and drop the phishing email from your inbox onto this new email message * In Netscape drop it on the 'attachment' area 3. Do not use "forward" if you can help it, as this approach loses information and requires more manual processing. The exception is when you use the Web interface to outlook: in that case forward is the only solution.

That's the key, they'll never ask for anything like your pin over the phone too.

Ultra Posted 8 February 2008 Posted 8 February 2008 There's a lot of these going around at the moment. I've had them from HSBC and NatWest, and I don't even bank with them. Just delete them. Immediately.
