DanTheFox07 Posted 9 February 2008 Posted 9 February 2008 After seeing what contribution howard and hayles made to the game tonight im not convinced that were gonna play football the way we should on the deck. Campbell was much better when he came on up front and fryatt nearly scored with his first touch. Howard and Hayles dont really have any pace, by playing these two upfront were just gonna be play hoofball! The midfield is still very unbalanced and I think were still lacking Wingers, don`t think bori or this lazcko are the answer after all the intial hype bout ollie and his hungarian connection. I would suggest that he should get sincliar in and maybe give mattock a go on the wing since we have clapham to play at leftback as mattock has a brillant left foot. Things are going against us and now its really time to see If the city boys are up for a fight!!! Keep The Faith!!!!

Zsolt has kinda gone off the rails a bit but then again he hasn't been given as much chance to shine as he did against Coventry. Bori on the other hand has been positive and consistant its just other around him are intent on aiming for the stars/howards meat head rather than a fellow players boot. And as for Howard and Hayles i've stated my opinions on them in seperate threads.
martyn Posted 9 February 2008 Posted 9 February 2008 If Scott Sinclair knew what was good for him he'd go somewhere else. I've got time for Howard, after all, it can't be fun when you spend all day trying to deal with aimless punts from the back. He thrives of crosses, not high balls hit from deep looking for flick ons.

Can`t afford to have players off the rails need reasurred players with some composure on the ball, Some many wrong descions made in our passin at times 2nite aswell. But back to howard and hayles! im sorry but i think we need to play fryatt because.... and ill go out on a limb against judgement of a lot of other people, this is my opinion but i think he is one of the best finishers at the club, difficult to decide to play upfront with him but u do need some strength!! so either campbell or howard but im sure it would be howard, well see.

Uve got time for a lump who is a clumsy striker, Why do u think derby took 1.5 million for him, they probably bit mandaric`s hands off when he offered that. Yeah he win`s header`s so what! Goals win games and we don`t score enough!!
DB11 Posted 9 February 2008 Posted 9 February 2008 The last time we played proper football on the ground, that I can remember, was Watford at home. I'm starting to wish we didn't buy those target men as it just means route 1 football and where has that ever got us?
martyn Posted 9 February 2008 Posted 9 February 2008 He was one of the primary reasons Derby got promoted you plank. I've clearly said why I don't think he's made such an impact yet. You can't just sign a striker and expect him to score considering the utter crap around him 'creating' chances.

You can't play football along the deck on that pitch - which is a shame, cos I think we actually have a team who can play football now

Anyway howard mite well be a better player with wide players able to cross a ball, hence why we shouldnt play him and make use of the strikers who can play with the ball at the feet or would u prefer to watch what u saw 2nite mate!!!! that aint football.
lildave3 Posted 9 February 2008 Posted 9 February 2008 What is with his love for Hayles, ok he fights for things and plays with his heart on a sleeve, but Campbell is a much, much better player. Play him, and if you play him, don't put Barry ****ing Hayles on the ****ing wing.
Joe. Posted 9 February 2008 Posted 9 February 2008 Howard could be good if he got the right bloody service. Too many times tonight he was relied on from long ball football. We're never going to get anywhere with him like that. I'd personally like to see Campbell start ahead of Barry against Watford. He was poor tonight and disappointed me a lot. The Howard-Hayles partnership doesn't exactly work wonders I'm afraid.
martyn Posted 9 February 2008 Posted 9 February 2008 Derby also sold their club captain, wouldnt read anything into it

I Agree campbell deffo to start and fryatt getting more than 2 mins to make an impression would be nice, A player i still rate when i know A lot of people dont!
martyn Posted 9 February 2008 Posted 9 February 2008 The trouble is, we're so entrenched into our long ball ways that you can't just suddenly snap your fingers and get the playing football. I like Kisnorbo (less so McAuley) but neither of them is a ball player and i'm beginning to turn to the idea that having a centre half who can start attacks, even by a simple ball into the midfield is important.
DanTheFox07 Posted 9 February 2008 Author Posted 9 February 2008 Derby also sold their club captain, wouldnt read anything into it difference is matt oakley is class!!!
lildave3 Posted 9 February 2008 Posted 9 February 2008 difference is matt oakley is class!!! Shame he nevers goes looking for the ball.
Simi Posted 9 February 2008 Posted 9 February 2008 Holloway must've seen enough now to realise Howard and Hayles is not the way forward. Every time I've seen DJ come on as a sub under Holloway he's looked a threat. I can't imagine he needs much more convincing that Campbell needs to start. We only have one route with Howard and Hayles, route one. Early on it looked like we tried to play some football but it all ended up breaking up as neither of them offer any sort of link up play along the floor.
