DB11 Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 And Mandaric probably had to agree settlements with sacked manager Martin Allen and the players who left by “mutual consent”. Didn't that other newspaper say MA got sacked and not left with mutual consent and get 'told off' or whatever by MM lawyers?
Scow Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 You can draw similar comparisons between us and Portsmouth in terms of when Mandaric took over. Both clubs were struggling to survive and just avoided relegation. The main difference is that Portsmouth had Harry Redknapp from the start. He was given a chance to change things around in the summer and did it to great effect. We had Kelly, then Worthington, then Allen, then Megson, then Moustache/Taggart, then Ollie... So it shouldn't really be a surprise to see where we are after so many changes. No wonder we look confused, disjointed, and spiritless. The turnover of players has been incredible since Mandaric took over, therefore you can't be surprised at the lack of unity at the club. You then have rumours of Ollie getting the sack, and although it's been denied, given what Mandaric has done before, you can't rule it out. Let's just have some fuc king stability - and not play Hayles and Howard upfront.
Daggers Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 £11m is the least he should be spending if he's to revolutionise the club but don't believe that figure for a second. I'm still amazed the media bandy around the figure of £25million (paid for the takeover of the club) when only the drug-addled or brain-dead believe it.
Sparky Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 I have it on good authority that Mandaric exaggerates the size of transfer fees to make himself seem wealthier/encourage supporter adulation. The DJ Campbell transfer, reportedly for an initial £1.6million, was actually £500k up front, with the other £1.6 million dependent on appearances, promotion and installments. £11m is the least he should be spending if he's to revolutionise the club but don't believe that figure for a second. Dont you think the tax man would want to know about that

Zingari Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 Leicester City chairman Milan Mandaric has revealed he spent £11m in his first year in charge at the Walkers Stadium. "It has not been easy," he said. (The Independent) i thought that he would be complaining that its been all too easy for him to waste his money, but if he finds it that difficult to spend i'd gladly help him out
Fox in a Box Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 Take into consideration: A bulk 5m or so on transfers. DJ Campbell (£2.3m)<<---- 1.6M!!, Steve Howard (£1.5m), Stephen Clemence (£750,000), Matt Oakley (£500,000) and Barry Hayles (£150,000). Wages over the time peroid that milan has been here £3m or so, and agents fees must have been for the squad of players £1,06m We have paid off players (maybury, de Vries, keabi, cort to name a few), now that would cost a small fortune £1m+ We have paid off a manager (allen) So its quite easy to see whwre the money has been spent one thing that doesnt get shown is the 650K for McCarthy, coming in plus any other fees that we may have had coming in. The revenue from SKY, STH + 24,000 on average per week this actually keeps the club ticking over. Im sure Milan has aims and would love to see his team come to fruit, but the squad did need a massive overhall and it has been done, i think were still 2/3 players short but not as bad as we were... I just think that not having FULOP on a Season long long was LCFC biggest mistake this year. just remember ...JOE HAMILL, BREVETT, then think again Milan I'm putting my faith in you, just make sure we stay in this league this season...
Guest ttfn Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 Dont you think the tax man would want to know about that What he reports to the press and the tax man can be different you know. I'm sure he's not involved in any fraudulent activity. But what we hear is sometimes different to the facts.

Think that's a bit wrong mate! Didn't they go through Claridge, Pulis etc under Mandaric before he struck gold with Redknapp - not exactly too different from here.

Didn't Redknapp go there as Director of Football in the first place, can't remember who the manager was, the ex Arsenal guy and then when he was sacked HR took over as manager only to get the huff when MM then apppointed another DOF.
Joe. Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 Milan took over Portsmouth in May 1999. Managers: Alan Ball - January 98- December 99 Bob McNab- December 99- January 00 *Caretaker Tony Pulis- January 00- October 00 Steve Claridge- October 00- February 01 Graham Rix- February 01- March 02 Before finally: Harry Redknapp- March 02- November 04

Completely forgot Mandaric had been there for that long before Redknapp arrived! Edit: Also just to add that Redknapp, appointed manager after working as a DOF, had time to sort things out before getting promoted the next season.

That's exactly what I'm hoping Milan's going to let Holloway do. I've said it in previous posts that Milan's got to give Ollie the time, we've just got to get through this season relatively unscathed (i.e. avoid relegation) and give the manager the whole Summer to try and sort things. I'm confident it can work that way.
dog_4 Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 looks like a clear out and anouther 11m need spending again. been so poor. Give me the job Milan. I'd spend the cash on scott sinclair, lee martin and graham kavanaugh. Also bring thomas sorenson in on a free in the summer.
Zingari Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 Leicester City were the biggest spenders on agents - laying out £1,067,084 - while only one Championship club, Blackpool, paid nothing to players' representatives. :o Sorry if already posted http://iccoventry.icnetwork.co.uk/0300cove...-name_page.html
Nationwider Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 It has been posted by davieG, but it bears repeating. Because it's a friggin' disgrace. I thought we'd got away from that sort of thing. Makes you wonder how many kickbacks Manadaric, Holloway and Allen have* been taking? *allegedly
The Stig Posted 18 February 2008 Posted 18 February 2008 I just think that not having FULOP on a Season long long was LCFC biggest mistake this year. He was on a season long loan. We just stupidly allowed a recall option in the contract, and once Keano realised we wanted him he took him back so we had to pay him. It still might work as we may look at him in the sumer, I'm still not 100% convinced about Alnwick. Failing that I hear Kevin Pressman is available...
Chrysalis Posted 19 February 2008 Posted 19 February 2008 Amusing MM cannot win with the fans, if he sacks holloway hes too cut throat and if he gives him time hes doing the wrong thing as well. I certianly prefer the situation now to when we had the old board.

Agree. At least now we're waiting for something good to happen, as opposed to waiting for inexorable doom.

Sinclair didn't come here cos we're 'not good enough', not cos we didn't offer him enough money

Well said. I often think that us City fans are never happy unless we've got somethinhg to moan about

Nothing like getting the finer details right
