Mack Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 Would it be too much to ask for a surface at the Walkers that is conducive to the fine game of football or should we expect another cow field?

AyewJoking Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 So if we had a good playing surface Holloway would tell his players to play passing football?
Simi Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 The Walkers Stadium pitch, a cause for concern recently, is expected to be in much better condition for tomorrow's game against Norwich. The pitch needed to be spiked to aid ventilation, but because of the wet conditions the machines could not be used. The work, however, has now been done. The problem dated back to former City boss Gary Megson's habit of training on the pitch before matches. Moreover, a marathon FA Youth Cup tie against Crystal Palace on January 8, four days before the home clash with Coventry, did not help as the youngsters went to extra time, meaning 120 minutes in a torrential downpour, before they won 3-2. There has been a clear improvement and as yet City have no plans to re-lay the pitch in the summer. Mercury.
Legend_in_blue Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 Oh what a wonderful sunny day. I enjoyed this morning, and now look forward to this afternoon. I'm expecting to see sexy football, passing football, free-flowing football, down the wings, excitement, pass and move, pass and move, one-twos, flicks, back passes, bicycle kicks, the lot! Sorry, don't quite know what came over me there.
AyewJoking Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 So our pitch is ok as long as its not used for football matches? fair enough Oh what a wonderful sunny day. Legend_in_blue Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 I thought you were going to see Arsenal or something Having just returned to full consciousness, I now have the feeling I will be bitterly disappointed by 540 this afternoon. I'd better have that drink now.
gosfox Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 So our pitch is ok as long as its not used for football matches? fair enough I shudder to think what the state of the pitch might hve been, had the proposed ground share with the Tigers become a reality I have my own theory that we have, in fact, loaned out Groundsmen to Notts County to enable them to get some experience at a lower league ground

Sorry, don't quite know what came over me there. Hey, what a difference a few hours makes! I must have had some kind of premonition back there. Sexy football? - yes. Passing football? - yes. Free-flowing football? - yes. Down the wings? - crikey, yes. Pass and move? - yes, more than once! One-two's? - yes, it was like watching Brazil! Back passes? - yes, but only to the keeper, you can't have everything. Bicycle kicks? - that was asking for too much. Oh, but I forgot the step-overs! Lazcko's step-overs were legendary. Even he didn't know where the ball was sometimes! Great entertainment, now let's get some CONSISTENCY!!!
Staf Posted 16 February 2008 Posted 16 February 2008 Again the pitch was poor i think they should re surface it tomorrow at least it will have two weeks with knowone playing on it .
