Ric Flair Posted 26 February 2008 Posted 26 February 2008 Exams revision, it was suggested elsewhere. He's 17 now, nearly 18. I don't think he's studying any longer, unless he doesn't think he's going to make it as a professional footballer, which is unlikely.

davieG Posted 26 February 2008 Author Posted 26 February 2008 Reserves: Walsall 0-1 Leicester City Late goal seals second string win. Wonder who the scorer was - I can't take this!
davieG Posted 26 February 2008 Author Posted 26 February 2008 Walsall 0-1 Leicester City A goal at the death from Andy King secured a 1-0 victory for City reserves over Walsall at the Bescott Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. The game looked to be heading for a stalemate before the youngster picked up a loose clearance and hammered the ball home with just two minutes remaining. Reserve team coach Gerry Taggart named a number of first team squad members in his starting line up - including Gabor Bori, James Wesolowski, Radi Kishishev and former Saddler Matty Fryatt.
davieG Posted 26 February 2008 Author Posted 26 February 2008 City came close to opening the scoring as early as the fourth minute of the contest. Hungarian international Bori fired in a shot from the edge of the area, but his effort was cleared off the line. Troy Deeney had a chance for the home side nine minutes later, but his shot was well held by Henderson in the Leicester goal. City left-back Ryan Beswick almost capitalised on a defensive mix up moments later, but his effort was saved. Fryatt had his first sight on goal on 16 minutes, but his drive failed to trouble Saddlers stopper Bertrand Bossu. The home side were awarded a penalty on the half-hour mark - but Henderson was on hand to pull off a fine save to deny Ishmel Demotagnac from the spot. It was Bossu's turn to produce some goalkeeping heroics in the 36th minute - making a fantastic double save to deny both Andy King and Fryatt. Substitute Luke O'Neill almost put the ball past his own 'keeper a minute later - but the post came to his saviour. Fryatt rattled the post a minute before the break before Hayles bundled in the rebound only to see it chalked off for an alleged handball. Fryatt came close again from range on 58 minutes, but his well struck effort was palmed away by Bossu. Hayles beat the Walsall keeper with 64 minutes on the clock, but his shot rebounded off the bar. Fryatt weaved his way through on 70 minutes before seeing his shot acrobatically cleared off the line, and moments later Hayles forced another good save from Bossu. King finally broke the deadlock in the 88th minutes - making it back-to-back wins for the reserve side following their recent victory over Wolves. Fryatt almost doubled City's advantage in added time, but his header drifted just wide of the target. Leicester: Henderson, Cox (O'Neill 35), Beswick, A King, Garner, Rowe-Turner, Wesolowski, Kishishev, Fryatt, Hayles (Burns 75), Bori (C King 57). Subs not used: Cobb, Pentney. Yellow: Hayles (40), O'Neill (50), Kishishev (80) Walsall: Bossu, Taundry, Sansara, N'Dour, Smith, Dobson, Nicholls, Moore, Deeney, McDermott, Demontagnac. Subs: Harris, Hanna, Davies, Schwarz, Gilmartin.

Good old Kingy. Third goals in three matches if memory serves. Better send him out on loan if he's going to do that, otherwise he'll become an embarrassment.
STUHILL Posted 26 February 2008 Posted 26 February 2008 Good old Kingy. Third goals in three matches if memory serves. Better send him out on loan if he's going to do that, otherwise he'll become an embarrassment. King is someone I would like to see on the bench. I am a big fan of Weso, but I think King has more ability to change a game, whether it be a goal or the neat pass to set one up.
Joe. Posted 26 February 2008 Posted 26 February 2008 King's been a bit unlucky so far this season in terms of first team chances. With the "undroppable" Clemence and now Oakley here his chances are becoming very limited. And it is a shame because whenever he's come into the first team he's done his job solidly enough.
Master Fox Posted 26 February 2008 Posted 26 February 2008 I feel that mine and Davie G's support throughout the match contributed to this wonderful victory. We were the 12th man/men
davieG Posted 26 February 2008 Author Posted 26 February 2008 I feel that mine and Davie G's support throughout the match contributed to this wonderful victory. We were the 12th man/men It was difficult and when we went a 1-0 up with 2 minutes to go I thought how much more bad luck can one team endure fortunately they retained all 11 players on the field otherwise I do believe we would have lost.
Thracian Posted 26 February 2008 Posted 26 February 2008 King is someone I would like to see on the bench. I am a big fan of Weso, but I think King has more ability to change a game, whether it be a goal or the neat pass to set one up. Wouldn't be surprised if Fryatt had a good un today cos he always seems to play well with Kingy supplying the passes and, indeed, it sounds as if he was unlucky not to score. Trouble is if King gets on the first team bench he'll be asked to keep it tight and not take risks which means sod-all will happen. I've never seen him so inhibited as when he gets in the first team and it's not lack of confidence. He's clearly under instructions so he becomes just like the rest of our midfielders. To my mind we need a manager who'll lift the fear that enshrouds our first team. Someone who'll tell em they'll get dropped for not trying things rather than the other way around. King has long been a good attacker but you'd never guess from his first team role, not even the day he scored his screamer. Like Beswick he passes the ball quickly, accurately and with some purpose. He can also shoot accurately and ghost into the box to win headers. But I've rarely seen him near the box in the first team. I don't mean he's tried and failed. He just doesn't go there. Nor anyone else. Someone's not long posted about playing to people's strengths. Well getting Kingy to just play keepball in midfield doesn't play to his strengths. Yes he can do it and is always ready to take his share of responsibility. But we've had lots could do that like Hughes, Jarrett, Tiatto, Clemence, Oakley, Wesolowski. Kingy needs licence to support the attack and to get himself on the edge of the box. I bet him, Weso and Kishishev hardly gave Walsall a kick in midfield today and I've been really impressed the way Kish has fitted into the side and the effect he's had on those around him. What a transformation from the first half of the season when we were full of shit imports and getting ourselves embarrassed to the tune of six goals and four goals and even getting beaten by Hinckley United.
MikeyT Posted 26 February 2008 Posted 26 February 2008 I take it he has a second job as an assasin then? UP THE REZZAS!!! Mate, that avatar is genius!!!

My role for King would be purely to come on and attack. I would bring him off the bench if we needed a goal. If Ollie used him purely to be a like for like change for either Oakley or Clemence, then it's a waste. Some of these reserve players are really beginning to stake a claim for a start. Will Ollie have the balls to drop the Captain though.
