Micky Ruddle Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 Phone In reckon the crowd will give him a good reception tomorrow.
Staf Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 Good he did a good job here i will glad to see him return he wasnt an amazing mangager but he did a fair job.
Joe. Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 I hope he gets the fair reception he deserves. Results may not have gone his way during his management but I still respect him for what he did as a coach and as a caretaker manager for us.
The Stig Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 He is a very good coach and assistant, not manager material yet but he put 100% in to this club and deserves to be treated as such.
potter3 Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 He is a very good coach and assistant, not manager material yet but he put 100% in to this club and deserves to be treated as such. Why has your Hollowayometer gone down since before Cardiff? It was 6....
The Stig Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 Why has your Hollowayometer gone down since before Cardiff? It was 6.... Then it went down to four after the Coventry game now its five
FilboFox Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 I'd have my Hollowayometer up at 7 at least... he got an away win!!!
Daggers Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 Rob smashingbunchoflads Kelly was an inept twat - he can **** right off.
Guest ttfn Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 Rob smashingbunchoflads Kelly was an inept twat - he can **** right off. You say he was inept but he dug us out of the crap in his first season and when he left in his second season we were 19th I believe. Which is only 2 positions below where we are now. And he had no money to spend. So in that case Holloway's 'an inept twat'. Which is also not the case.
davieG Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 He is a very good coach and assistant, not manager material yet but he put 100% in to this club and deserves to be treated as such. Any evidence of that, Leicester were crap and Preston are crap with him as coach and assistant
The Reverend Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 Whatever anyone says about him, as much as i disliked him, he saved our asses the season before last and for that he deserves praise.
Sparky Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 He wont get any kind of reception , he will sit in the dugout and nobody will notice him
The Stig Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 Any evidence of that, Leicester were crap and Preston are crap with him as coach and assistant Bloody fair point actually, but I wouldn't blame Preston's woes on him, or ours for that matter, except for when he was our manager of course. Anyway, Rob Kelly came to this club as a coach, and was thrown in at the deep end when Kelly was sacked. He tried his best when he was in charge, but in the end it wasn't good enough and by accepting a coaching role he has accepted he isn't a manager, he's a coach. I don't think he deserves any stick from us.

I believe the only place, apart from a 1/2 dozen game run with us he's enjoyed relative success was as Blackburn's Academy Manager
Ryanside Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 Did an absolutely fantastic job of keeping us up, deserves a warm welcome

This whole merry-go-round of counter-views is dull. It was dull when he was here and it is still dull now. He did not dig us out of any shit and to view the events as such is superficial and trite. Throughout the entire time he was here not one person could offer up any evidence of him improving the squad, demonstrating good coaching skills or being tactically aware. The only thing anyone here can agree on is that he was a nice man. He ruined decent players and allowed potential to stagnate. He couldn't motivate, worse - he allowed a drinking clique to take control of the changing room that still has repercussions on the culture of the club today. He was not inept because of the clubs league position - he was inept because he could not do the job he was employed to do and didn't have the bollocks to hold his hands up and leave. Rob Kelly is a cunt.

You're right I agree with you, I was being a but premature in saying that he is a good assistant manager. It's been proven that assistant managers can have an imact, e.g Gus Poyet at Leeds and you're right Kelly doesn't seem to have made an impact.

An honest appraisal of his time here does not equate to booing the fucker. Anyway, I can't make tomorrow night so he can have a sound night's sleep and not worry about me

Corky Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 I hope he gest a decent reception. I always liked the bloke, weren't the best manager in the world but always gave 100%, and some of the football we played under him at the end of the 2005/2006 season was some of the best down here in recent years.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 3 March 2008 Posted 3 March 2008 He may not have been the best motivator or most tactically aware but he did care about what he was doing here and felt a strongly about the club and area. He was the easy option and should never really have been given the job full time. A club like us shouldn't be giving people their first taste of professional management really. After the Coventry defeat the other week we were in 20th. After the same amount of games last season we were 13th and that was with no Stevie Howard, DJ Campbell, Matt Oakley and Stephen Clemence type signings. That was with Josh Low, Andy Johnson and Gareth McAuley free transfer type signings. It's a shame that Kelly didn't appoint a Ray Graydon sort of character for last season because he seemed to help out a great deal towards the end of the 2005/06 season. Whether that was Kelly's choice or if the board just wouldn't stump up is unknown.

Agree - like Nigel he got us out of the shit, which was probably mainly due to the change of face factor. However ongoing, a manager would have to be experienced in the player market and tactically aware, neither of which Rob Kelly was, as a manager at least. If Milan had have been at the helm then, like Nigel I believe Rob Kelly would have gone during the summer. It was hard seeing him go though because he was such a nice bloke who seemed to be personally grieving for the side after that 3-0 away defeat to Plymouth! But that's football. You inspire crap and you get your marching orders.
