Bellend Sebastian Posted 4 March 2008 Posted 4 March 2008 I thought it was pretty feeble. Then again, I think 'That Mitchell and Webb Look' is dreadful as well, and that's won awards
The People's Hero Posted 4 March 2008 Author Posted 4 March 2008 Channel DAVE is showing re-runs of Big Train. Good old Big Train.
lildave3 Posted 4 March 2008 Posted 4 March 2008 Channel DAVE is showing re-runs of Big Train.Good old Big Train. When's this? What's Big Train? What a stupid name Dave is. For a channel I mean, obviously.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 4 March 2008 Posted 4 March 2008 Well I loved it - so definitely not a youth thing It was written and directed by Grahem Linehan, who did Father Ted and it's very much in that style. In fact, there are a lot of references to old skool computing (the menu's are by far the best menu's I've ever seen) plus I loved the subtitles on Episode One, which are available in English or L337. So in the first scene, when Denholm tells Jen "I'm your new boss," the subtitles read "I pwn joo!" Well I think that's funny Basically, anything with Richard Ayoade in is funny. Season 2 wasn't quite as good, probably due to losing Chris Morris, but contains the classic "new anti-pirating warning" at the start of a video that Roy and Morris are watching The IT Crowd's Anti-Piracy Ad And that's pretty much what to expect from the IT Crowd.
The People's Hero Posted 4 March 2008 Author Posted 4 March 2008 The wan king in the office sketch was a classic. Low-brow to the extreme but absolutely hilarious. Oh and World Championship Staring!

Bellend Sebastian Posted 4 March 2008 Posted 4 March 2008 It was written and directed by Grahem Linehan, who did Father Ted and it's very much in that style. That's probably why I don't like it. Although he's been fleetingly involved in lots of stuff I like, I don't think I've ever enjoyed anything where he did most of the writing. I'm one of about 5 people in the world that don't like Father Ted
The People's Hero Posted 4 March 2008 Author Posted 4 March 2008 The Jesus/Satan sketches in Big Train were good. I seem to recall Simon Pegge and Catherine Tate being in it? Having said that, a lot of sketch shows from that era blend in to one for me, so I might be talking complete Ultra-gonads.
