Thracian Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 The players who are doing the business for them at the moment i.e. Halmosi, Timar one of the lads they had to sell are all Holloway signings. You can try twist and turn the argument that he's a shit manager all you like, but the fact remains that he has shown that he's a decent manager at this level by his signings and the football Plymouth has played under him. Holloway knows a good footballer when he sees one. The only reason all these Plymouth fans are up in their arms after his departure was because he lied to them. Megson lied to us, too, but we didn't give a shit because we wanted to see the back of him. But Plymouth didn't. They wanted to keep Holloway because he was good for them, so for me, the opinion of Plymouth fans have no credibility whatsoever. The hate the bloke and you'll never get an honest opinion out of them. Getting rid of the bloke is the easy way out but I do wonder what we will do when the bloke after him can't perform miracles in a short space of time. I wouldn't exactly describe increasing our 25% win ratio as being akin to requiring a miracle!

Getting rid of the bloke is the easy way out but I do wonder what we will do when the bloke after him can't perform miracles in a short space of time. I think that's what people can't see past! We could change managers now, but who could we really get, Billy davies?? I'm not so sure! Would he stay if we still got relegated? I doubt it. Then who would we get. Would he be successful? Who knows! We cant keep changing! We have been poor for 4 years now, and we've changed managers over and over to try and rectify that. It hasn't worked and I dont think it will work for us now. I've seen enough promising signs from Ollie to know that I would be confident that if we got relegated, we would be favourites for an instant return. He wants us to play the right way, on the floor, attacking, using the wings etc. Some of his signings have been good. He has passion, sometimes too much! I think he's had more than enough time to make things work here and for whatever reason, it hasn't worked, so I'm not trying to make excuses for him BUT I truely feel to sack another manager now, is the last thing we need, even if It means relegation. Ok...permission to attack me granted!!!
ronnup Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 If we'd have beaten Bristol and Preston as we should have done, the team picked played well enough to and the performances show we were very unluck not to, this conversation would not be occuring. 6 points completely squandered by bad luck and shit finishing. Olly for me is good enough. Fate it seems unfortunately is sick of seeing us dodge the drop, underperforming and being shit to watch. And now time is up. On the positive side we're better than most of the teams we've got left to play, when the players perform. I feel the focusing adrenaline atmosphere of the battle will spur the likes of Hendrie on to help us stay up. They like to be important to the fans. This gives them something to play for. Who knows,
Eastern Fox Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 To me, the underlying problem at the club is the quality of people serving on the board. Even in our most successful period, we had a tight-fisted bastard (Martin George) in charge, thankfully he had enough faith in MON to appoint him. Elsom was a complete disaster obviously, allowing Taylor to waste £20 million. I thought Mandaric would be good for this club, but his style of getting though several managers a season hasn't really worked out obviously. It's Milan's fault we're in this mess, have six different managers in less than a year is just never going to translate to success on the field.
Sniffer-Clarke Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 The players are clearly blinded by something. They cant find the back of the net. Its normaly MONEY.

Getting rid of the bloke is the easy way out but I do wonder what we will do when the bloke after him can't perform miracles in a short space of time. It's not a case of me twisting the argument. Its quite clear that you are doing that by quoting a few successful signings at Plymouth. What about his signings for us? Hardly successful are they? Signing good players is more a case of a good scout (ie Penrice). Management has many facets and in my opinion Holloway is very limited indeed. Some people cope better with being a big fish in a small pond than they do with being a small fish in a big pond ....... well Holloway is looking more and more like a minnow to me right now, lost in the great sea of Leicester City
step Posted 13 March 2008 Posted 13 March 2008 Holloway hasn't suddenly turned into a bad manager. And if we get rid of him, we will not find anyone who can offer better things than he does. It'll do us no good. We were shit from day one. We are shit now. The players has a lot to answer for. Your right ollie aint suddenly turned shite, he has always been shite. But I do agree there is probably no one better that would come here, unless mm gets his hands in his pocket and offers a good wedge. Which is what has to do in summer when he kicks ollie out. so it may as well be now
The People's Hero Posted 13 March 2008 Posted 13 March 2008 There's clearly a deeper problem. Holloway maybe sh*t, who knows? But either way, the fact we've been sh*t from the first game of the season isn't suddenly going to change. No manager out there has anything better to offer than Holloway, and there’s very little chance their going to come in and miraculously change our fortunes given the problems we’re faced with. I think all we can do is grin and bare it the best we can. Accept our fate, it's been on the cards for a long time now. Mandaric is the biggest **** in my eyes for giving us hope. I challenge you to post a picture of the hairiest minge you can find.
