Fez of Mahrez Posted 31 March 2008 Posted 31 March 2008 I never get sick of them. Mclusky Do Dallas and Curses are both absolute masterpieces. I've got the 3CD Mcluskyism somewhere too. I will have to dig that out and stick it in the car for the summer. I can't decide what my favourite song is either. They're all brilliant. I could listen to the lyrics to Dethink To Survive all day. "Cartoon monkeys got you hard, it must have been the hair, though Jive Bunny stole your creative fire, you really didn't care" And of course "We take more drugs than a touring funk band" from To Hell With Good Intentions. And the opening line to Gareth Brown Says. DANNY BAKER! DANNY BAKER! DANNY BAKER! DANNY BAKER!
Leicfox Posted 1 April 2008 Posted 1 April 2008 Mclusky Do Dallas never grows old on me, unfortunately i've not heard any of their other albums. I must give them a try.
General Smuts Posted 16 May 2009 Posted 16 May 2009 I hate you Fez and Alex. I can't stop singing about Pickled Onions from The Lord Hates A Coward. Gits. I've had to download Curses. What else do i need?
General Smuts Posted 16 May 2009 Posted 16 May 2009 15. The Lord Hates A Coward - Future Of The LeftI really wanted to hate this and when i had to double take to pick out 'Pickled Onions' in the lyrics i lightened up and began to dislike it even more. It sounds like the wanky bollocks i used to listen to when i was a depressed little shite. Was told to turn it off again 5/10 for 'Pickled Onions' 15. Future of the Left.Yeah. But t'aint Mclusky. Fantastic song though, far more my thing than Ray Charles. 9/10. (I'm thinking LFF and I aren't going to agree much musically.)
General Smuts Posted 17 May 2009 Posted 17 May 2009 You've never had taste. Ask your mum how i taste.

What else do i need? That's their only studio album. There's a few singles (the Lord Hates a Coward/Fingers Become Thumbs single has a cracking song called "The Fibre Provider") and a live album released in January called "Last Night I Saved Her From The Vampires". Their new album's released on 22nd June. Keen.
Jay Posted 17 May 2009 Posted 17 May 2009 FOTL are so influenced by the Dischord records sound it's untrue they remind me very much of a DC Hardcore band called The Nation Of Ulysses with quirky lyrics whose album 13 point program to destroy America is a bit of a classic in my book.

Katy Posted 17 May 2009 Posted 17 May 2009 Ha was talking to Fez about these on Friday. I have Curses on my iPod, got to love Manchasm.
hairy Posted 18 May 2009 Posted 18 May 2009 Their new album's released on 22nd June. Keen. Its been out on t'interweb for a few weeks now
General Smuts Posted 18 May 2009 Posted 18 May 2009 Its been out on t'interweb for a few weeks now It's not as good as Curses.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 19 May 2009 Author Posted 19 May 2009 Just downloaded the new album (legally, felt they were worth it). I was under no illusions that it would be anywhere near as good as Curses but I still enjoyed it, particularly Chin Music and The Hope That House Built. No lyrics sprang out on first listen though like with half of Curses (and three-quarters of Mclusky Do Dallas), bit of a shame on the face of it but I bet there will be things I hear over the next few weeks listening to it properly.
