Lovejoy Posted 6 April 2008 Posted 6 April 2008 Anyone ever owned one? I'm considering purchasing one and was wondering what people thought of them ie. reliability; driving quality etc.
Guest Posted 6 April 2008 Posted 6 April 2008 I had one a few years back, and am looking at buying a GT or GTi version now. Never had any problems with mine, and a very enjoyable drive

Bellend Sebastian Posted 7 April 2008 Posted 7 April 2008 Are we talking the current model? My mate had an '05 GTI and he was very happy with it. Not driven one myself but from what I've read the current generation one is much more highly thought of than the one before. I don't think they have quite the reliability record they once had - your Fords and Vauxhalls have closed the gap in that regard. The Focus won the award for most reliable European car a couple of years back

Matt Posted 7 April 2008 Posted 7 April 2008 Matt should be here any minute now.... Yep. Theres mine Beautiful. Had mine for about 5 months and very happy with it, I had a VW Polo before that, nothing was wrong with it at all and for my age a great car which was only a year old at the time but wasn't too keen on it, I had the 5 door Polo and thats what I wasn't really happy with the 3 door looks a hell of alot better, but the Polo got me on the ladder to the golf, I now have exactly the right car I want and have always wanted. I've never been into or a major fan of "mods" but I have had the 19" RS8 Alloys fitted, I plan to get it lower (Looks like a 4 x 4 at the moment), and I would like to get the Golf R32 rear bumper and exhaust (But your talking nearly 600 quid for that so don't think i'll bother). Reliability - Can't go wrong with a VW really, any VW, build to last, and they hold their value, I bought my Polo, owned it for about a year and half and only lost just under a grand really in second hand car terms thats fuk all lost.
