Daggers Posted 11 April 2008 Posted 11 April 2008 West Bromwich Albion chairman Jeremy Peace says talks over Kevin Phillips' new contract are "ongoing".The 34-year-old has scored 24 goals for the Baggies this season but his existing deal expires this summer. Peace said: "Negotiations with Kevin and his representatives are ongoing and everyone hopes that they will reach a successful conclusion." Phillips wants a two-year contract but the club want him to sign a one-year deal with a further 12-month option. Does anyone seriously think he can do the business in the Premiership, if they go up? He's had an outstanding season, but it makes me think of a bulb glowing brightest before it pops. I can't see a contract being worthwhile.

dandannieldanok Posted 11 April 2008 Posted 11 April 2008 I think he could be a useful sub for a season, hence why they're only offering just 12 months. Maybe if they can't reach an agreement we could bring him here.

I'm not sure whether he'd have the same impact on the Premier League but he'd still be a useful player to have around the club. I'm sure other clubs would love to have him so I don't think he'd want to come to us. He'll stay at West Brom for another year at least.
Saint Posted 12 April 2008 Posted 12 April 2008 The Prem will be too much for him. He'll be ofloaded in the summer. Here? Would be just like Leicester to sign a has been.

Darkzzz_ Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 King Kev Phillips will be here next season when we stay up and march towards the Prem next season!!
Fat Ron Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 24 Goals isnt bad for a has been. I wish Our Younger strikers could be half as good!!
The People's Hero Posted 15 April 2008 Posted 15 April 2008 If he comes here, he'll becoming appalling immediately. The club will start wheeling out excuses about his ankle etc. It's a slippery slope, Kevin.
