Gary Megson and Ian Holloway

So Leicester fans, in the light of the two contrasting seasons sicne Megson left you, are you regretting getting rid of him?

His achievements at Bolton are obvious, and so are Holloway's achievements at Leicester.

What possessed you to appoint him!?! He's usually been inept, his personality has got him further than his management could, with the possible exception of Plymouth and QPR.

His record is astoundingly poor. In the last 7 seasons this one included, he helped set Rovers on the road to League Two for the 1st time in their history, promptly joined QPR in February 2001 and took them down and now this. Only real success was hainv Plymouth where he had them.

Granted, he is certainly "a character", and irony of all ironies, is that his first game in charge was a 2-0 win at Ashton Gate.

We only appoint ugly managers and they were the best we could find. Roll in Ian Dowie :D

Maybe I am, maybe I am. :D

But seriously, Megson did get Bolton survival from a tough position and their best run in Europe in their history.

to avoid further embarrassment please read something about Megson's departure from our club...

Our downfall this season was lack of goals scored. Does anyone think we would have scored more under Megson?

Yes, Megson did well at Bolton, but then he walked into a club with a good infrastructure and, most importantly, a decent team who were used to playing the formation and tactics that he favoured. The club was almost tailor-made for him.

Holloway, on the other hand, walked into a complete and utter mess. Yes, he got things horribly wrong, but I don't think we would have faired that much better under Megson.

Anyway, not only is it past history, but the two situations are so different that any comparison is going to be utterly pointless.

I don't know, the general impression I got as a fan from another club hearing it at the time, was that Leicester fans were not exactly shedding tears when he left.

Well Megson wasn't sacked, he walked out, and who knows if he'd have done any better? Hindsight is a wonderful thing. At Bolton, he has a good group of players that were regulars in the top half. He's done well there, I'll give him that.

Megson was hardly setting the world alight here. I will never know if Megson would have done better than Holloway.

I'm not one to be vocal (i.e. moaning) during games, but even I struggled with Megsons defensive tactics. It really was dire. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have renewed my S/T with Megson in charge, although I would have gone to games. I'll be renewing this week though. I'm sure Ollie won't be around for the start of the season.

Completely agree, next year at least we will go to S****horpe and play for the win, not a draw. That was the final straw for me, combined with the Sheffield Utd home match.

its time MANDY looked for someone with our history at heart so they understand our passion for this great club instead of clutching at straws and appointing clueless nobodies who only care about the size of their wage packet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Much as I disliked Megson and I think he's a twat for ditching us in such a way, I don't think for one second we'd have been relegated under him.

We weren't.

He played the most negative football you will ever see in your life and we never, ever looked like winning a Championship.

It was always a 5-3-2 formation with "wing-backs" and although we rarely conceded from it, we rarely scored either. With Megson we were going nowhere. Things haven't worked out with Holloway either, but that's football, he'll probably be sacked and we'll all move on.

What Chimp said.

Megson took Forest down to League 1 and left them hovering above the relegation zone when he left.

I was prepared to give him a chance, but a lot of the fans weren't because of his past. We may have been in a better position - who knows, it's hypothetical.

I do feel a bit sorry for Holloway, but that's no excusing him from what he's done. We haven't been good enough, and despite some money spent in January, we've gone backwards.

I've said before that I would keep Holloway on. Yes, he's underachieved, and yes, he's made some odd choices, but the club has been a mess for the past five years and it's needs sorting out. Give him a chance to make amends. He's got promoted from this division and there's very few managers available who would realistically want to come to us and could potentially do a better job. We've got to be realistic and try to rebuild.

It's that or Dowie.

To be fair, I think Holloway cares deeply, but he's out of his depth at our club. Tactics leave a lot to be desired. Megson never had any passion for our club at all.

Bolton are shit, and so is Megson. Out of his dpeth in the Prem by far, relegation looms next season mark my words.

neither do i!

he spotted weaknesses in the team and was dealing with them.

made us resilient and strong defensively almost immediately. other, weaknesses, ie the attack, would have been looked at eventually to. i think mid table would have been possible.

i couldnt give a toss if we were 5-3 2. worked for o'neill.

sure, he was a tosser for walking out when no-one else would take him on, so him leaving was in effect out of our hands but he would have done a job regardless of the fact he was forests former boss or played dull footbal. we have been dull for fooking years. we would be dull in the championship come august.

SO WHO WOULD BE YOUR CHOICE ?

Someone like Paul Ince, who has fantastically at both Macclesfield and Mk Dons. I don't want a manager with a big reputation, I want a quiet, understated manager who will get on with the job with a minimum of fuss.

call me stupid but even if we could get him , i think he would do well and leave for someone bigger and then we have the same problem of instability. Mad as i am i think royal over seeing taggart would work as at least taggs knows how we feel n he in my opinion is ouronly stable choice.

Thick Useless TWAT. We DIDNT get RID of Megson, Didnt Sack him, No Mutual Consent you ****.

He left us after the shortest stint as manager cos his head got turned by a Premiership job after we got him out of Oblivion, so your whole comment has no basis at all and just a wind up.

Now Sit Down Fook Off
