Poshie Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 You'll enjoy your day out at Peterborough, quick trip down the A47. 3,500 capacity standing terrace for the away end, plenty of away supporter friendly pubs. We're not planning on staying in League 1 long either, ambitious rich chairman, ambitious young manager, England U21 international in goal, defence solid thanks to Welsh international Craig Morgan, experienced midfield marshalled by Micah Hyde, brilliant attacking through Mackail-Smith, McLean and Boyd - 67 goals between them this season - and we've enough money behind us not to need to sell anyone.

What they all say but remember one little thing my friend ... Small fan base
renards Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Hey ladies and Gentlemen. As a Bristol Rovers ST holder, I just wanted to see welcome to your new home, you will be made to feel very welcome. Even though "Ollie" is a Gas legend, he made some shocking decsions in his last 12 months as manger, which took us about 7 years to recover from. Hopefully it wont take you guys that long............! I remember when we dropped to League 2 in 2001 for the first time in our history it hurt, bad. But you guys will have some fun down in League 1, and it will make the good times in the future far more sweeter to enjoy. Ashley You don't want him back then? Its a shame MM didn't ask the fans of his previous clubs for a reference, this is a typical comment. Believe it or not we still have fans who swallowed the dream and think he should stay
Poshie Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 What they all say but remember one little thing my friend ... Small fan base Ah but when Man United trot out for their usual friendly pre-season, the ground sells out - 15,000 - as all the fair weathers come back. Wigan used to get gates of 2,000 not so long ago. Move up the league and the pretendafan will come
Daggers Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Going down has made me realise just how decent so many football fans are, and how different the feel of League One is compared to the Premier League obsessed Championship.I never believed this good be good for us before, but maybe - just maybe - it will be. My favourite comment this week was on Talking Balls where someone said something like "They have been so welcoming and nice, now I can't wait to try out League Two as well."
Tilley Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 I am quite looking forward to next season. I'm slowly getting over relegation. I'm sure there will be alot of comings and goings in the summer. But I'm quite optimistic we can do a job in League One.
HUFCPoolie Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 I can second the GAS fan.. You will enjoy it even though you probably dont think it at the moment. We may not have the mod-con grounds with arse warming seats but the atmosphere being close to the pitch is something else Enjoy your stay and Bristol Rovers is a cracking day out! There fans are top notch like ours when they stopped Hartlepool winning the League 2 title. They still had enough decency to clap us off for the runners up and vice versa. No hostility unless you go looking for it!
act smiley Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 We don't get a proper Bristol Rovers trip though, its a buy-one-get-one-free offer on Cheltenhams!
Manwell Pablo Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 My favourite comment this week was on Talking Balls where someone said something like "They have been so welcoming and nice, now I can't wait to try out League Two as well." They're horrible nice aren't they. You don't get this in the top two divisions.
Corky Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 They're horrible nice aren't they. You don't get this in the top two divisions. Well, you have to respect the bigger person, or they'll stamp all over you. At least that's what my History teacher said once.
Scow Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 It's what real football is about - none of this pretentious crap. Apart from us and Leeds though...

There are some decent pubs there, and the bar at the ground ( The Corner Flag? ) is smal but very welcoming. There are some great fans in this division.
Chairman of the Bored Posted 7 May 2008 Posted 7 May 2008 Brighton dont play at the Goldstone anymore.......... Yeah, I know. They play at a ground which has less atmosphere than the moon: Withdean. They'll soon be moving to Falmer; subject to the ground being built as the locals are not too enamoured with the idea.

Yeah, but will we have a line of Police Horses and dogs on the pitch at the end just in case we might put one foot on the grass? That's what happened last time we played at Posh. I suspect all Police leave will be cancelled again this time.

That's what we said and everyone with a super-rich owner behind them said. The right bid comes in and they're gone, believe us. And seeing as you have the U-21 keeper, we have the U-21 keeper and Man City have the U-21 keeper, who exactly has got the U-21 keeper?
