The Stig Posted 8 June 2008 Posted 8 June 2008 Just Referee More than £20 a game (£23 to be precise at the age groups I Ref) and 1 game is an hour (if you do Youth games).... wait that's £20 an hour Better than some stupid paper round with crap pay No pay in summer. My first job was at Everyman Motor Raicng Activities in Prestwold cleaning super cars such as Ferarri's, Lambo's, Aston Martin's etc. For a 14 year old there were a lot worse jobs. I remain with Everyman to this day and now I Co ordinate the activity days at the Rally School. It's a quality job, I'm very lucky. I also had some time away from Everyman in which I was a Kart racing Marshall. That was a great job, although you got treated like shit, but I enjoyed it on the whole.
DB11 Posted 8 June 2008 Posted 8 June 2008 Ha no acually... I got paid a tenner for half an hour work on a sunday when I was 13-14... Paper rounds are still boring though No pay in summer. Oh yeah? There are summer tournaments actually, and they pay really well (for me ) Around £30 - £50 a tournament (and there are more than enough... least 1 a week and maybe even two - one Saturday and one Sunday - if you really wanted to do that many) plus there is the option to go to ones like Skegness tournament and get paid, plus accommodation, plus food.
AmericanScott Posted 8 June 2008 Posted 8 June 2008 What's it like being a ref? I always wanted to get into it.
StroudFox Posted 8 June 2008 Posted 8 June 2008 My first job was at Coombs Bakers on Queens Road. I just looked for adverts in shop windows and asked insideif they had any vacancies. I actually wanted the job at the Blaby Coombs but didn't get it and they passed my name on to Queens Road. Wasn't great but it paid for my driving lessons.

I'll have to get my hands on some of those when I become a ref.
DB11 Posted 8 June 2008 Posted 8 June 2008 What's it like being a ref?I always wanted to get into it. It's great Yeah but Danny, how much did you pay for the course? It is actually quite cheap. It's stuff like kit, child protection and CRB check (criminal record) that add to the overall cost. But you make the cost back in no time really. I'd say £70 including registration etc. (excluding kit)
Guest Posted 8 June 2008 Posted 8 June 2008 My first job was working in the toy dept at Woolies. If you didn't get a Michaelangelo, and have been mentally scarred by it, don't blame me!!
syston_fox Posted 8 June 2008 Posted 8 June 2008 My first job was working in the toy dept at Woolies. If you didn't get a Michaelangelo, and have been mentally scarred by it, don't blame me!! I got one In some ways I think it's helped me get where I am today! My first job though was the traditional paper round and then I worked in the newsagents. Great little job if you can get something like that. Never that much to do and if you did the early shift (5am) then you had the rest of the day to do what you want

If in doubt set up a drugs factory like they have up the west end, there are loads of them about u know.

MC Prussian Posted 9 June 2008 Posted 9 June 2008 My first job was one for a Summer - must've been either 1995 or 1996. A shitty summer that was - rain all day, or almost every second day. Sold food & beverages at our local public swimming pool. My interest in candy and self-made sandwiches has massively diminished ever since. I wonder why.
blue blood Posted 9 June 2008 Posted 9 June 2008 Got a ten?? henrys only i think our friend that wants a job should start at an ozzie or even a 9 bar if he wants to aim high
