Nationwider Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 My first proper job was driving cars for a local dealer*. You do need to be 17 to do that though. What sort of job are looking for? Permanent? Part-time? Holidays? Saturdays? Given your age, looking through the local ads, newsagents, flyers in the chippy etc is going to be the best bet. * Second hand car dealer.

Daggers Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 My first job: I smashed eggs at a battery hen farm, bloody brilliant job. Your first job: here
Fox You Forest Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 I got lucky as i didn't like school so hardly ever attended and i got offered the chance to go to Stephensons College once a week instead of doing the last year at school. I chose Painting and Decorating and i did that for my first proper job i had finished half the NVQ by the time i was old enough t start work. I dont do it now but i would look into a college course they should help you find a work placement also. That's if you want to go into a Construction trade that is. EDIT - ok having seen your reply all this info is now useless.

Daggers Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 Not just yet mate give it a few years Trust me, Alex's refrain of "I'm just 24yrs old" is so last year - "I've done an amazing amount for a 15yr old" is the way forward.
The People's Hero Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 First job? Do you have an eye for a cr ap player? Shedloads of humourous excuses up your sleeve? Ability to identify a smashing group of lads when you see one?

Staf Posted 6 June 2008 Author Posted 6 June 2008 Doesent anyone on here own a pub or anything i could be a glass collector
the_bowman Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 I know how you feel mate, I'm after a saturday/evening job at 15 and it's bloodeh hell trying to find one
Joe. Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 Many places won't employ you until you're 16, so that could explain a lot as to why you're struggling. When you do turn 16 I'd suggest just handing CV's in (to the manager if and when possible) to shops etc. Most of the time you just have to get lucky and be in the right place at the right time with this sort of thing.
Samilktray Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 Finished school today, so i now need a job apparantly. Ive not really been lucky with interviews though.

Samilktray Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 Turning up naked wasn't the best move. I thought woo'ing my potential employer may go some way to persuading them.

AmericanScott Posted 7 June 2008 Posted 7 June 2008 There's a small shop in town down Churchgate that had an advert in the window saying part time staff required. Perfect for 15 year old school boy. Apply within. I'm not kidding.
