AmericanScott Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 Not exactly an amazing tie but at least it'll be a weeknight fixture. I love going Soar Point pre-match for a few. Hopefully it's a Tuesday night game
Maybes Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 Thanks! And you too C-man. Playing straight off the bat, I'm an away fan....a 'dirty' Leeds fan to be precise, , as we are both in this hellhole of a division I thought I would pop over for a bit of pre-season tittle-tattle. I'm not a WuM of any kind, and to be honest, with Waccoe as the main Leeds forum, I spend most of my time on opposing teams message boards! As for your tie, it could be a bit of a blessing in disguise...it takes a bit of time to realise just how poor the football is in this league, a tie against Stockport could help you accustom yourselves quicker to what lies ahead. It's not a hard league to get out of....but it's not easy either. I'll say (and very much mean) the same thing I said to my Forest friends last season...I sincerely hope we occupy the top two spots come the end of the season. As much as I dislike Leeds, I would actually like you to get promoted with us. I can see your lot being up their, as for us, well anything could happen.
Jack Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 Should be an easy game for us. But we don't seem to do anything the easy way any more.
Guest Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 Am I the only person who just isn't excited at all about the Carling Cup this year?

Actually we have a reputation as a young energetic team playing good passing football. You can get any notion you have of us being a typical lower-league hoofers and cloggers out of the window. We passed our way to promotion, using the lone man striker 4-2-3-1 / fluid 4-5-1/4-3-3 formation, similar to that used by the likes of Man Utd - which allows players to move quickly from defence to attack and vice-versa. We will certainly be looking to pass the ball around our excellent wingers and midfielders none of the rubbishy cynical hoofball. As for the tie itself hardly one that had fans on either side jumping for joy. But that's the way it goes - I would have preferred Doncaster away as out of all the other northern teams in it there's is the only ground I haven't been to (with the exception of yourselves, Leeds and S****horpe all of which I'll be visiting in the league next season anyway). We should hopefully give you a decent game. We gave Charlton a belter of a game in the 2nd round last season. They went 2-0 up, we scored 3 in 15 minutes to go 3-2 up - they equalised with about 20 minutes to go - and eventually snatched a 4-3 win with about 20 seconds to go of normal time! I wouldn't be too suprised to see it go to extra-time or even penalties. I'll see you in August anyway.
