personally an atheist.

even more so after seeing this CLICK

SCROLL DOWN FOR MORE

I got to about 2mins through and got bored. If you don't want to believe in god then don't, why have you got to try and force your opinions on others?

PS I very much doubt the existence of god.

What's agnostic? I'm voting for that

Agnostic means 'not sure', 'on the fence', you could see it as the 'bisexual' equivalent for religious debate

I added it with reference to this meaning:

  1. One who believes that it is impossible to know whether there is a God.

I'm an atheist. Personally I think that religion is rubbish in terms of what it asks me to believe. Having said that, I do not subscribe to the argument that religion alone is responsible for the world's problems. Yes, it contributes, but only in connection with money and power. Religious organisations do a lot of good. There are many religious philosophies with which I can sympathise. I like a lot of the message of Sikhism, although all religions, at their most basic level, promote peace and goodwill. I think that this is a good thing.

My problem is that I just cannot believe in a God. I do, to an extent, believe, of perhaps more to the point, feel, that there is more to life than what science has discovered, though. We know so little. Through having studied Psychology at university, I remember having conflicting feelings about what is accepted as scientific fact. One particular lecture focussed upon love and attraction. The idea that love is just a chemical in the brain just doesn't do such a feeling justice for me. I'm sure that it is true, but I'm not convinced that it works alone. There must be more to it than that surely, something spiritual, more in tune with nature perhaps? Something which doesn't demean such a strong and important feeling to pure biological mechanics? I don't know, but I'm quite happy to keep that little bit of ignorance. I think it will be a sad day when we can justifiably claim to know everything.

So am I religious? No. Atheist? I suppose I must be, as the idea of a God just doesn't sit well for me. I guess I believe more in the universe, or 'Mother Nature'. One thing I do not like is those who attempt to project their beliefs on to others, whether they be religious or otherwise. Its not fair. Allow people their beliefs. Whaever helps people through the day is fine by me. If we are all to live by one philosophy, then surely it is that we should not be unkind an dismissive of others?

I'd also like to point out that the poll says 'vote vote vote vote' but I could only vote once, I personally feel let down but apologise for not completing what was asked of me.

God works in mysterious ways they say.

Stat. on the Wright Stuff, in a argument as to whether only stupid people believe in God! I.e. the more intelligent you are the less likely it is you are to believe in God/follow religion. Combine that with religion, especially fundamentalism only really occurs in very poor/poorly educated countries!

Out of 700 Nobel prize winning Scientists asked if they believe in God? How many do you think said yes!?

1, that's right one!!

P.s. I'm becoming more of an atheist the older I get!

Of course not... but the trend is certainly true. Obviously there are intelligent, religious people and stupid, non-religious people. But 699 in 700 top scientists can't be wrong!

The trend is obviously that 'more educated' people all secretly think they're God.

I often see the 'clever people are atheists' point, to be honest I think it's a horrible and very disrespectful argument. It seems to me like people copying the clever kid in an exam. Dawkins uses it a lot in his book, not a book I would recommend reading.
