alanf0x Posted 26 June 2008 Posted 26 June 2008 Possible transfer spec. One of my mates is close friends with Stephen Hughes (old Aresenal, Everton and most recently coventry player). He said that he has not agreed on a new contract at Coventry and its between us and QPR to sign him. Although he lives in the midlands at present, i think he would prefer to link up with Ian Dowie again and move back down to London. He was on good money at Coventry, so would be surprised if we would be signing him as a squad player. Replacement for Clemence maybe?
Ric Flair Posted 26 June 2008 Posted 26 June 2008 Sadly, this is the sort of player I can see joining us. A player that if motivated could probably do a job at this level, but any higher and the party is over.
MikeyT Posted 26 June 2008 Posted 26 June 2008 I'm just glad it's not the other stephen hughes I thought exactly the same thing when i saw the thread title! I thought lighting couldn't strike in the same place twice!

There's a reason Coventry got rid of their club captain - he was awful for them last season, totally dis-interested. Having lived in Cov, I'm all too aware what they think of him. He can't agree a new contract cos Cov haven't offered him one. I'd be very disappointed if we had him. A player with huge potential when at Arsenal, but someone who essentially hasn't made the most of it. A steady slip down the football ladder, so naturally we'll be the next rung down for him....

Exactly, he's lost his ability as much as Michael Ricketts, Michael Birdges, Francis Jeffers, Danny Cadamarteri and Jody Morris have. I'd be seriously worried if he comes in.

Chris Coleman wants to keep the player, but Rayson has offered a major pay cut which he is not prepared to take. No better/worse than clemence in my opinion.
CupidStunt Posted 26 June 2008 Posted 26 June 2008 he's shit still dont forgive that shunt for scoring the last minute equaliser against us at filbert street
dandannieldanok Posted 26 June 2008 Posted 26 June 2008 This guy ain't much better than the Stephen Hughes we had, no thanks.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 3 July 2008 Posted 3 July 2008 Sadly, this is the sort of player I can see joining us. Looks like Forest ( ) will be your Saviour Ric
SamL Posted 3 July 2008 Posted 3 July 2008 Looks like Forest ( ) will be your Saviour Ric Phew! I wouldn't take him. Looks like they might not be signing Clemence after all according to that article.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 3 July 2008 Posted 3 July 2008 Phew! I wouldn't take him.Looks like they might not be signing Clemence after all according to that article. That's ok..I'd rather us keep Clemo and they can have Hughesy
SamL Posted 3 July 2008 Posted 3 July 2008 That's ok..I'd rather us keep Clemo and they can have Hughesy Can't argue with that.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 3 July 2008 Posted 3 July 2008 no no no no.You lot can have him. Please, be our guest In all seriousness, have you heard what the problem is with Clem?
RedHux Posted 3 July 2008 Posted 3 July 2008 Please, be our guest In all seriousness, have you heard what the problem is with Clem? Dunno, It seems to have gone a bit quiet on that front. Although that doesn't mean it's off. Calderwood tends to like to keep his cards close to his chest on signings only announcing anything when it's all done and dusted. All the talk at the minute is of us signing Andy Cole by the end of the week (you heard it here first:) ), but we're supposed to be signing 2 others. Joe Garner's been mentioned and the other could well be either Clemence or Hughes (who's training with us). I'd prefer Clemence.

He was quoted as saying that he had signed, but your lot have denied it. Must be summat in the air.

Must be summat in the air. yea, it's an odd one that. we have from india....http://www.telegraphindia.com/1080703/jsp/calcutta/story_9484652.jsp whereas the Evening Post say sources at the club say he hasn't. I'll wait untill it's on the OS. As nice as it was to start with being linked with literally everyone who's ever kicked a ball, it is getting a bit boring now
Thracian Posted 3 July 2008 Posted 3 July 2008 Hughes would best be confined to an All Our Yesterday's video. But if Mandaric's still not wasted enough money....
Jack Posted 3 July 2008 Posted 3 July 2008 Looks like Forest ( ) will be your Saviour Ric Thank fook for that.
alanf0x Posted 9 July 2008 Author Posted 9 July 2008 Thank fook for that. Looks like this deal wont be happening. Speaking to him last night and he is training at Forest to earn a contract as previously mentioned. Was very keen to join (when Ince speculation was around) but has since had no contact from the club so trying for Forest instead.
Guest Posted 9 July 2008 Posted 9 July 2008 Quite glad he's goin elsewhere to be honest, never really been that impressed with him myself
Shipman Out Posted 9 July 2008 Posted 9 July 2008 Cant stand S Hughes as a player or person remember him scoring against us at Filbo for Arsenal and doing that thing with his ears "cant here you now thing" He did it at the family end wish hed done at the kop end!
Father Ted Posted 9 July 2008 Posted 9 July 2008 Looks like they might not be signing Clemence after all according to that article. Fcuking hell, If Clemence plays 1 bloody game for us next season then... it will just show why we are where we are... we don't learn our lessons!
