poynton blue Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 Good to see it go back to the Spoin kop,be even better if there was a pay on the gate turnstyle (like the old days)
iancognito Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 A token gesture about 6 years too late. Anybody from L Block thinking of moving back now it's been renamed? Thought not.
Sods Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 Surely this should have been released before everyone renewed their season tickets so that they got everyone to move back to the Spion Kop?The away fans need to be moved next to the Spion Kop now, otherwise the noise and atmosphere filters out the stadium as it is so big. And we do have a song for the Spion Kop called 'When you're tired and lonely'? When you're tired and lonely, your heart might skip a beat, You'll get your fecking head kicked in as you walk down Filbert Street, You walk into the Spion Kop, and hear a mighty roar, Feck off you Forest Bastards, We are the Leicester boys Is that it?
Hullfox Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 Hey, the club has done something that is inoffensive and won't cost us anything. Let's rip the shit out of them everybody.
Sods Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 Hey, the club has done something that is inoffensive and won't cost us anything.Let's rip the shit out of them everybody. I don't think its a bad idea, just a little too late. From when we moved to the Walkers and too late this season. It would definately work if the away fans were moved but........
Darkzzz_ Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 I will just call it what i have always called it!! The Kop... Makes no odds to me!!
Halfsy Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 That is the song yeah. I think its a good idea from the club but agree it is too late. Maybe if there was more interest shown in moving the away fans and those sitting in L1 would be up for moving to the Spion Kop then it would be a much better idea?
Floating Fox Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 Hey, the club has done something that is inoffensive and won't cost us anything.Let's rip the shit out of them everybody. "We are always willing to listen to our supporters and will look to attempt to implement or incorporate good ideas" Biggest load of bollocks I've ever heard. Bunch of cu*ts.
Poakey Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 Hey, the club has done something that is inoffensive and won't cost us anything.Let's rip the shit out of them everybody. Exactly!!! MOAN MOAN MOAN,do my fukin head in.
Simi Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008   "We are always willing to listen to our supporters and will look or attempt to implement or incorporate the good ideas if we believe that the club and its dedicated fans will benefit as a result." 6 years too late now anyway and it won't change anything. They're not serious about this at all, just yet another ploy to attempt to boost sales. Why it's been changed this late is beyond me, will have no real impact.
Wycombe Fox Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 Lose the seating, concrete-in some randomly placed steel-hoop barriers and away we go! Sing the following to the tune of Oh what an atmosphere! I love the Walker's with a happy atmosphere, So let me take you there, And you and I'll be dancin' in the Walker's air! Well we're at the Foxes party, And you're out there havin' fun, And our Nige' is there beside you, And you feel like number one! So get your body movin'... 'Cos the game has just begun... OH WHOA! Let it go! WHOOA! Let it show.... Aaah Aaah Aaah Aaah! Oh what an atmosphere! I love the Walker's with a happy atmosphere, So let me take you there, And you and I'll be dancin' in the Walker's air! OH OH Oh what an atmosphere! I love the Walker's with a happy atmosphere, yeah mmmm, Scoring everywhere, And soon we'll be dancin' in the Walker's air! Bunch of cu*ts. You're obviously closer than me to them on this but why is it a load of bollocks? Our club has played piss poor football for a long time now and as a result our support in the main is piss poor home and away. We have pockets of fans singing different songs all of the time. We get the numbers in but that's it. Winning games will hopefully change that though. Roll on August.

davieG Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 To make the atmosphere in SK1 more authentic and sympathetic to the history of Filbert St. there will be strict conditions of entry to SK1. 1) Age limit 17 - 25 2) Inebriation levels/BAC levels to be no less than 160 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood 3) You must be able to recite the words to at least 3 LCFC songs including When Your Smiling 4) You vocabulary must include the use of at least 5 swear words or similar unsuitable language options 5) You must be able to point with an accusing finger 6) Any geographical knowledge of England will be seriously frowned upon especially during 'You're just a small town in.....' 7) Enough alcoholic fluid must be present in your body up on entry to the ground to ensure you have sufficient urine in order to piss up the wall of the kop. 8) You must believe all referees are wankers 9) At appropriate times you must be prepared to vocally abuse and boo the players and the manager 10) You must be prepared to sing 'Come on in' even if you're scared shitless at the thought of being caught on your own amongst a crowd of rampaging away fans.

I guess you followed those rules exactly at Filbo!
stez Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 I don't think its a bad idea, just a little too late. From when we moved to the Walkers and too late this season. It would definately work if the away fans were moved but........ (just an example to quote, not a dig at 'sods') but to be fair to lee hoos, and even milan, neither were here when we moved to the walkers, so there's really no point dissing 'the club circa 2008' because someone before him didn't make the same decision. i would like the walkers to make it's own history and thus, nostalgia and not keep harking back to filbert street and that is only going to happen with the passage of time.....and a few decent seasons and a few more games like spurs in the cup (honda de vries ). walkers isn't filbert street. unless, of course, they can rip down the east stand and build some terrace houses there which people can move into and refuse to move out of.
markbsac Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 so we rename it....but will this make any difference to the atmosphere...i think not...it will be even worse with 15,000 less fans in there on some games.....its gonna be hard work next season i think we all know this.
Rich Fox Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 Considering filbert st witnessed real excitement compared with our times at the walkers I dont think it was a good an atmosphere as everyone makes out. We were outsung many a time by away fans at filbo and it was like a bloody church in that carling stand and how dipressing to look put and see that poxy east stand so lets not write off the walkers it is obvious the away fans should be next to the kop and we shouldnt have that crappy loud yanky style music before every game and we need a proper song of our own that gnerates some noise as when your smiling doesnt do it.

I completely agree. Filbert Street was not as good as some remember. I sat in the Carling Stand as a youngster and you got a perspective of the atmopshere and it was not as good as some claim. The main stand only joind in with the chant of "Come on Leicester" and the so-called "Crazy Corner" was only heard occasionally. I think some fans have rose-tinted glasses. On the odd occasion the atmopshere was great and the Carling Srand got involved, but moreoften than not it was bad. The best atmospheres i have been in at home are actually at The Walkers against Tottenham and Villa in the cup. They were superb and better than what i sampled at Filbert Street. P.S before i get slated, this was the perspective i had from the Carling Stand!

The real Filbert Street was pre-Carling stand when the hoi poloi in the main stand were stamping their feet on the wooden floorboards - now that's what you call atmosphere.

Now that was atmosphere!!
Chairman of the Bored Posted 27 June 2008 Posted 27 June 2008 We are so retro! Loving it. What a laff. Next we'll be wearing all white (remember that Bloomfield trick?), having a corner for the supporters club and iron pens behind the goal. Hello 1970s!!
