Guest Posted 21 July 2008 Posted 21 July 2008 BeeswingRockingham Road Kettering NN16 9AL It's a one and a half mile amble that doesn't involve getting lost in back streets up to the ground. From the ground to the pub: see answer two. That's almost the same map I printed off!! The husband has said we will train it. I hope this place has vodka.... He hopes for cheese "n" onion cobs. Not rolls, cobs.

Guest Posted 21 July 2008 Posted 21 July 2008 You've spelt Wales wrong. Don't, it's confusing enough....
clazkel Posted 21 July 2008 Posted 21 July 2008 You're thinking of Corby, you'll be fine I'm from Corby, but i work in Kettering, i think Kettering is getting as bad as Corby recently!
Daggers Posted 22 July 2008 Author Posted 22 July 2008 He hopes for cheese "n" onion cobs. Not rolls, cobs. He's hoping. They do a decent carvery for Sunday lunch but I don't reckon cheese and onion cob is on the menu. They do have a fine selection of two beers - which, for Kettering, ranks it as one of their foremost Real Ale establishments. They would probably claim the third one, a flat pale beer, is a beer but it isn't - it's dishwater.

(Eastern European fresh roadkill).

I'll make sure that he gets the warning about pale beer.
Houdini Logic Posted 23 July 2008 Posted 23 July 2008 how far is the ground from the train station ? About 30 minutes walk through town
isaidno Posted 23 July 2008 Posted 23 July 2008 I've just looked it up , 1.8 miles. It's gonna work out cheaper than going by car
Craig Posted 23 July 2008 Posted 23 July 2008 I'm from Corby, but i work in Kettering, i think Kettering is getting as bad as Corby recently! Blimey, looks like i've been away for too long
Houdini Logic Posted 23 July 2008 Posted 23 July 2008 I've just looked it up , 1.8 miles. It's gonna work out cheaper than going by car And on that 1.8 miles there are at least 16 pubs/bars on the way
Darkzzz_ Posted 23 July 2008 Posted 23 July 2008 About 30 minutes walk through town What pace are you walking at? There are pubs on the way through town... I, like a fair few, will be drinking at the beeswing before the game.
Houdini Logic Posted 23 July 2008 Posted 23 July 2008 What pace are you walking at? There are pubs on the way through town... I, like a fair few, will be drinking at the beeswing before the game. 15 minutes to get through town, 15 minutes down Rockingham Road easy

General Smuts Posted 25 July 2008 Posted 25 July 2008 A few of the Kettering boys I know reckon they have some of there new chants to try out for us. It will never ever beat 'Ricky's Dick Is Massive, Ricky's Dick Is Massive alalalala OOOH' - although that really didn't take off. Iwan Is Welshman took off well though
Houdini Logic Posted 25 July 2008 Posted 25 July 2008 For those getting the train - It's easier than trying to make sense of a Map From the Train Station Walk up station road until you reach the traffic lights at the top, then head left down Sheep Street (past the church on your right). Continue down Sheep Street, towards the town centre (the market place will be on your right). Walk all the way up through the high street, which turns into Gold Street (follow it up the hill and round to the right) Take the first left turn after Boots onto Silver Street (recognisable by the buses/bus stops). At the end of Silver Street (a fairly short walk) you will see Sainsbury's on your left and a church on your right. The road between them is Rockingham Road - follow it for just under a mile and you will see the Football ground on your right.
