Goal Music!

May be knocked on the head now David.

Depends on the new Chief Exec if he wants to continue with regular ones or more open mass ones.

BUT music after goals WILL stay no matter what!!!

By all accounts, and from what can be seen at the games, the majority definitely do want the music.

I heard the old CE wanted to rotate membership of the committee - do you reckon that'll go through? It'd be a shame to not have continuity of some people staying on but it's far from perfect seeing as no one votes for any of these anonymous souls.

I'm assuming that you say this just because you see people dancing to it, but I'm guessing that's because fans will hardly want to stand still in protest at the music on the rare occasion that City score. As such they will feel obliged to wiggle their arms to the generic monstrosity that is Chelsea Dagger. I feel embarrassed when it comes on, why can't fans just be left to their own devices? It's not as if you need music to be psyched up to go mental when your team scores anyway, is it?

If it were up to me, the only music we'd have on matchdays would be the classic Post Horn Gallop to run on to, then after that let the supporters generate a bit of noise themselves, rather than having dictated to them which music should have them feeling a certain way about their team.

:D

That really would be brilliant.

Can you imagine it? 25,000 Leicester fans doing that dance in the Walkers. I can think of nothing better. We would be famous throughout the land!

Yeah the old CE wanted more open meetings.

I think that would be a better idea(although you may get alot of the Boo Boys and anti-establishment brigade attending just to be a pain!)

Although continuity makes for more openess as people arent afraid of saying what they think(and hence making a twat of themselves!!!)

We'll see what the newest CE's ideas are regarding fans meetings.

Regarding the Fans Forum, apart from Lisa the rest are just dimwits plucked from the streets....

Do YOU know for a fact the MAJORITY of LCFC fans dont want the music???

Perhaps its just the majority on this forum?

Dont think that counts for the vast majority of fans who goto City does it?

I personally couldnt give a fcuk....i just want the Kop and Family stand swapped!!!!

No but I think it's pretty representative, we're hardly talkingballs. There's young and old on here, cocks and piss flaps. As someone's just mentioned, I thinking peoples' opinions on here give a much better idea of what the general feeling about chelsea dagger is than glancing round the ground when a goal goes in. Even those that despise it are gunna go fooking conkers if we've just scored.

has anyone tried to do anything about the goal music?

I have a few times. And unfortunately, just like Kevin Barkley, it will not be going anywhere for the forseeable future.

I never celebrate when Chelsea Dagger comes on. I just find myself stopping and have a look around at the cringeworthy way we are FORCED to celebrate a goal.

Infuriating. I wish I'd invented facebook.

Exactly what the club wants to see!!!

Again, like you say, some things are not gonna change for the foreseeable future albeit good or bad.

Still think we can get tha family stand and kop swapped around IF someone starts an online petition or something!!!

We know you love sitting on the fence Raj, but are you actually trying to say that goal celebrations will be tame if we don't use goal music? The whole situation depresses me.

Eh?! My point was that people are jumping around in spite of chelsea dagger not because of it, i.e. the music is making it less enjoyable than it would be otherwise. Is that what the club want to see?!?!

I would rather NOT have music after goals.

We never had them at Filbo and it was great.

BUT the club obviously feel times have changed and football is a more family based 'day out' and unfortunately its gone abit americanised with all the glitz and glamour.

They probably feel it adds to the whole experience???

Unfortunately i think its with us for a while yet!

Well you're on the panel at the fans meetings and whatnot, speak up! I'm sure Lisa would be right behind you. If people let the club get away with it, they will. If the pressure is big enough, I'm sure they'd at least look into putting it up for discussion.

Been there and done it pal.

Im sure you of all people(re: standing areas) knows that when the club wants to do something they bloody well will!!!!

And regarding after goal celebrations-they bloody well will!!!!

sorry!

Still jumping around arent they???:)

People are blind. Its all do to with crowd control not helping the create an atmosphere.

fcuk sake standup AND ched...all i need now is jme joing the crew and im dead!!

wouldnt mind but i dont even want the fcuking music!!!! :D

Im off,before i get lynched.....

P.S Never mind "Pearson OUT" threads....i wonder how many "Goal Music" threads we'll have this bastard season!!!

When it comes to the whole atmosphere thing, I have said so many times we don't need music after we score. I am outnumbered.

They really want to improve the atmosphere, but they won't do anything like switching the Family Stand and Kop, which is the most obvious thing to do. Families don't enjoy being next to the away supporters and the swearing, and you only have to look at Southampton, and the way they let their vocal supporters flank either side of the away support. However the club will not take the risk as it "could upset some of the fans". Or the SAG, or just the police. They think that playing music will get the crowd going. The crowd join in, but many are now devoid of ideas as to what to do next. Some, I suspect, expect the atmosphere to be laid on a plate for them. As much as the club is to blame, I think we have to look at the fans as well. The days of Filbo are long gone. :(

Sad thing is that, to anyone else, poncing along to some kiddy music looks bloody stupid. It only appeals to one type of person anyway. Can't for the life of me see the need to choreograph goal celebrations.

Those are the very words I used. :(

l444ry, SUAS and Lisa amongst others are right.

Football has been "marketed" since the Premiership came in really and football fans are already a captive market so they try and appeal to children and lunatics these days.

Not from what I saw last season - everyone around us in the Kop danced to it.

Don't get me wrong, I am not a fan of post-goal music but the vast majority of fans dance & sing to it and every club does it. I see it as a lost cause in League football.

I'll put my hands up and admit I've joined in after the few goals we scored last season.

However, I wanted it to carry on. To have someone a few rows back singing "sit down, shut up" at you for trying to create some atmosphere at a football game really did it for me. Especially as it was the most important home game since Oxford Utd in 1991.

If I was in a bad mood I might suggest that most (other! :P) people in the Kop could be categorised under one heading.
