whitlock Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 For their own player....... apologise heard it wrong, they want to keep him i meant
JoeyB Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 Tottenham are closing in on a deal for Derby goalkeeper Stephen Bywater.Spurs are in the market for goalkeeping cover after allowing Paul Robinson to leave for Blackburn and with Radek Cerny not winning a new deal at White Hart Lane. Juande Ramos is keen to bring in an understudy to summer signing Heurelho Gomes and it appears Bywater could be on his way to North London. Derby boss Paul Jewell has confirmed Tottenham have made a bid for Bywater and that the former West Ham keeper is keen on making the move. Bywater is well down the pecking order at Pride Park and spent the second half of last season on loan at Ipswich. Appeals "Tottenham came in with a bid for Stephen and the player is very keen to go, which is fully understandable," Jewell told the Derby Evening Telegraph. "I would like to have kept him but it is a move which appeals to him and we wish him well."
Hackneyisblue Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 Agreed.also, anyone who thinks shot stopping is a skill worthy of first team football should be kicked in the balls. EVERY goalie should be able to 'shot stop'....it just means getting in the way. Loads more aspects to it than that & Hendo has none of them. Thank goodness there are a few on here who appreciate what a goalkeeper should be doing on a weekly basis. He saves penalties though
dandannieldanok Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 also, anyone who thinks shot stopping is a skill worthy of first team football should be kicked in the balls. EVERY goalie should be able to 'shot stop'....it just means getting in the way. Well kick me in the balls then , I quite like the idea of a goalkeeper than can stop shots. I think you'll find that in League 1 and below, many goalkeepers struggle to save shots on a regular basis. Get over it and get used to Henderson, he is the best we can hope for in League 1 and proved in the 2nd half of last season he was good enough for the championship. There was never any hope of us getting Bywater or anyone better than Henderson, why on earth would he or any others drop a league when they can get football at a higher level.
SamL Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 I'd love fulop back but just can't see it.He's good enough the prem let alone the championship or even league 1. I think Stoke had a bid accepted for him last week.
DB11 Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 Henderson's a second rate keeper, who was bought in as back up anyway. Can anyone honestly say they don't sh*t their self every time the ball goes near him.said it before & I'll say it again - You can't polish a turd....Hendo is a turd. I don't. Hendo is a very good keeper and I would be quite happy to start the new season with him in goal :)
CupidStunt Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 I think Stoke had a bid accepted for him last week. They did,but they couldnt agree personal terms, thats why they signed sorenson i believe instead
SamL Posted 31 July 2008 Posted 31 July 2008 They did,but they couldnt agree personal terms, thats why they signed sorenson i believe instead Ah yes, I'd forgotten about that. I've just read that Fulop asked for more money but Stoke weren't prepared to pay a little extra.
lildave3 Posted 1 August 2008 Posted 1 August 2008 Mandaric should pay Fulop whatever it takes! I guess you haven't heard his demands for 3,876 types of gummi bear. A WEEK.
whitlock Posted 5 August 2008 Posted 5 August 2008 Quite a few, keeper threads now, guessing this the right one.... http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_3912925,00.html move to Spurs has fallen through
Fox You Forest Posted 5 August 2008 Posted 5 August 2008 Bit harsh. I think he's a good keeper, especially at the level we'll now be playing at.Cant think of any better goalkeepers in League 1. Does that really matter to a goalkeeper? Are the shots on target going to be shitter. Are the crosses that he will have to deal with going to be easier?
Hackneyisblue Posted 5 August 2008 Posted 5 August 2008 Does that really matter to a goalkeeper? Are the shots on target going to be shitter. Are the crosses that he will have to deal with going to be easier? But apparently he saves penalties so that makes him just grrreaaat
Simi Posted 5 August 2008 Posted 5 August 2008 Being as we signed a keeper yesterday I beleive this ship has sailed.
