Simi Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008  at people thinking the top four will be broken. Especially by Villa.
Father Ted Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008  at people thinking the top four will be broken. Especially by Villa. No offence, but A midfield of: Young - Barry - Sidwell - Agbonlahor and then Carew upfront. Aswell as Laursen chipping in from the back. All they really need is another decent defender and a goalie and they have a 'top four' team. Look at it this way: Liverpool would be average without Carragher, Gerrard and Torres. Barry could be just as good as Gerrard. In fact, I rate him more!

Liverpool maybe would be average without them, but they wont be will they? So what's going to change?

SystonFox Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 No bias there at all I take it and just an opinion based solely on football? sorry my opinion didnt match that of yours but i think man utd may struggle unusually. i think it will be an interesting league with things not being so close as they have. villa with barry or not may suprise people, a real "TEAM" club right now.

No need for the first bit, I just thought that it was a Man United bias that's all as I really can't see them dropping out the top four any time soon with the strength in depth they've got.
Tevez Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 Anyone who thinks Man U will drop out of the top 4, infact top 2 need to have a word with themselves.
Father Ted Posted 18 July 2008 Posted 18 July 2008 Well Barry will be playing at Liverpool. :laugh:They're not getting Carson either. Liverpool maybe would be average without them, but they wont be will they? So what's going to change? Personally, I think he will stay. Carson is over-rated. Nothing's going to change but there not going to challenge for the title either...
dandannieldanok Posted 18 July 2008 Posted 18 July 2008 Barry could be just as good as Gerrard. In fact, I rate him more! I don't like Gerrard but that is ridiculous, you're entitled to your own opinion but every time I've seen Barry play, especially in recent cup ties against us, he's been distinctly average at best. Many would argue, including myself, that Villa's recent success is much more due to Young and Agbonlahor than Barry.

Ok, I admit, I may be a bit biased because I think Gerrard is a pleb but Barry's performances for England, the through-balls, the crosses, set-pieces are all world-class.

With Jay Tabb reportedly on his way and no real decent signings coming in yet apart from Eastwood, who I think is overrated, I can see them struggling!
Finchy Posted 19 July 2008 Posted 19 July 2008 It's an unpredictable league, it's just one of those feelings. We're gonna be having a sh*t season in League 1 and it's just our luck for them to have a great season and go up.

Ultra Posted 21 July 2008 Posted 21 July 2008 why does nearly everyone seem to think that a league 1 team who came up from league 2 will win back to back promotions? Because both the franchise and Peterborough have a bit of money behind them, and also people who know how to spend that money properly.
