Sparky Posted 20 July 2008 Posted 20 July 2008 Rolled back the years and went to watch OCS at the Nottingham splendour festival yesterday , forgot just how much i loved these boys back in the day , excellent performance and there finish with The Day we caught the train rocked the place . The singer and 1 of the guitarists are playing an acoustic session at Sumo tonight on Braunstone gate so gonna get myself to that also . Charletons also played and Kate Nash headlined but left before watching Nash . Festival was put on by Nottingham city council in Woolerton Park and ran from 12 till 11 . Shame our council in Leicester wont do something similar . Our parks are easily big enough
Jay Posted 20 July 2008 Posted 20 July 2008 I hated this band with a passion in the 90's they were everything I hated about the "Britpop" scene although Steve Craddock who now players with Weller is a good guitarist just couldn't stand OCS

I saw them a couple of times early on and they were shocking, along with the first album. I can't say I listened to anything they did after then.

I didnt bother with Kate Nash either - wandered off to see Lightspeed Champion on the other stage (Not wasting my time listening to Nash!) Didnt see the fuss about the charlatons really...Tom Baxter and some of the more local bands were good though. Great day though!

purpleronnie Posted 20 July 2008 Posted 20 July 2008 Didn't Chris Evans Champion them? A reason to hate them right there. Have to say being a bit of a Mod back in the day, I did like them, but grew tired of them pretty quickly.

purpleronnie Posted 20 July 2008 Posted 20 July 2008 Perhaps , The Riverboat song was used regularly on TFI Yes wasn't one of their songs the theme tune to the show? If memory serves me right he also championed Kula Shaker and much like OCS they were the next big thing before disappearing into the Brit pop black hole.

I thought Crispian Mills, or whatever his name was, disappeared up his own back side.
purpleronnie Posted 20 July 2008 Posted 20 July 2008 I thought Crispian Mills, or whatever his name was, disappeared up his own back side. Ha! Yeah I think that was the problem. Plus I think people found out he was rich and his cred went downhill fast.
Sparky Posted 20 July 2008 Author Posted 20 July 2008 Well not going to see them tonight , tickets about all gone . Anyway glad to see they have gone down well in here
