jonno24 Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 I was just wondering if needing the hoover or hairdryer on to get to sleep is common ?. As i have just become a father for the first time and my son heath. (yes he is named after the tragic actor of which my wife is obsessed ) i havnt been able to get to sleep unless there has been a hoover on or a hairdryer on in the house the same goes for little heath. it is as if the noise calms us down i even have a video of him crying then i put a hoover on and he goes to sleep straight away is this weird? it is also happening to me i have never had this problem before but ever since the birth i havnt gotten a nights sleep unless these things have been on. It is almost as if i concentrate on the noise and i drop off just like that. and rather embarrisingly there is video footage of me at night doing the hoovering actually falling asleep doing it and sleeping standing up what do you think ?
AoWW Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 I'm just grateful I'm not your neighbour. I'm also not the best person to give advice when it comes to sleep problems! If the hairdryer/hoover works though, I don't see the harm in it. (Mind you, don't they overheat? Not wanting to worry you, or anything!)

Smiffy Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 As opposed to going thru 10 hairdryers a year, try putting on the tele to a blank channel. White noise. A lot of people need noise to sleep. I cant sleep without a ceiling fan on...but that may have something to do with my wifes 100 degree sleeping temperature <_<
lavrentis Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 the ringing in my ears drives me nuts so I need some noise too. I just leave the tele on low volume.
Fox You Forest Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 the ringing in my ears drives me nuts so I need some noise too. I just leave the tele on low volume. I have that too i put it down to all the noise at The Walkers.

lildave3 Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 Apparently the constant noise helps people sleep, and it's not that rare.
