I agree that we should have an English manager, but that isn't for footballing reasons, it's because I think appointing a foreign guy is cheating. People will realise one day that the responsibility cannot be just that of the manager, the players have to take a large proportion of the blame. But it may be the case that we are too hard on them, perhaps they are just not up to the job. Capello is an excellent manager, his record proves that, but his success is built on tactical prowess. There are two reasons why that doesn't qualify him to be England manager though. 1. English kids are taught to lump the ball up to tall forwards at school and throughout their development. Nearly no time is technical or tactical development made a priority, therefore, when they mature as players, they are not great technically in comparison to their foreign counterparts, and find it more difficult to adapt to more complex tactical ideas. 2. An international management job, for me, has little to do with tactical/technical work. The players should already be schooled in these fields by their clubs. The international managers job should be to play players to their strengths, within tactical parameters with which they are already comfortable, and to provide some genuine, passionate motivation for the players.

And then we wont see the benefits of it for a number of years, so people will still be moaning about the state of English football for a while.
