Stevosevic Posted 21 August 2008 Posted 21 August 2008 Looking forward to Hargreaves being back so Barry can f**k off. Hargreaves, Gerrard and Lampard would do nicely in a midfield three.
Lovejoy Posted 21 August 2008 Posted 21 August 2008 We'll fluke a 1-0! Is this on Setanta too? (please say yes )

My apartment was near the Olympic Stadium at the bottom of the Montjuic, it's about a half hour walk, but the metro will sort you out.
Floating Fox Posted 3 September 2008 Posted 3 September 2008 Cant believe this game is only on sentana...Fooking national disgraceALL england games should be viewable on national tele I don't understand why everyone makes such a big deal now Setanta have got it...Sky have been showing games for yonks. Same rules surely? Edit: Ash you may want to look at this. Good site.

The Stig Posted 3 September 2008 Posted 3 September 2008 It is highly unlikely that either of Fabio Capello's first two competitive qualifying matches will be shown on free to air television, after Setanta accused broadcasting rivals of "emotional blackmail" in a row over the rights to highlights of the games. In what is believed to be a first for such important ties, neither the away game in Barcelona against Andorra on Saturday nor next Wednesday's crucial game against Croatia in Zagreb will be shown on terrestrial television at all. Setanta has exclusive rights to the matches after securing them from the relevant governing bodies, but traditionally pay TV operators have negotiated a deal with either the BBC or ITV to show highlights if they hold the live rights. ITV and BBC insiders have accused Setanta of failing to offer the highlights at a realistic price in the hope of forcing viewers to subscribe to its pay TV service. But today Setanta director of sport Trevor East hit back, saying that only one bid had been lodged from either broadcaster and that they were attempting to whip up public outrage to secure the rights at a discount. "It's emotional blackmail. One of them hasn't even made an offer," he said. "They are using their position to leverage valuable rights out of us for a fraction of their value. The only offer we have received is substantially lower than either of them have paid for a Champions League qualifier." It is understood that the BBC, believed to have paid a six-figure sum to show live coverage of the second leg of Arsenal's Champions League qualifier against FC Twente, has made an offer for the highlights but that ITV is yet to lodge a bid, believing Setanta's valuation to be unrealistic. The FA has no jurisdiction over away games but officials are understood to be concerned that there will be no free to air outlet. Setanta and ITV are partners in the £425m four-year deal for England home games and the FA Cup negotiated by outgoing FA chief executive Brian Barwick. Previously, when a deciding match has only been available on pay TV, Sky has allowed a terrestrial broadcaster to show highlights or full delayed coverage later in the day. This happened in 1997 under Glenn Hoddle when England needed at least a draw against Italy in Rome to progress, and in 2000 when they met Scotland in a European Championships play off. But Setanta executives argue that the principle only applies to deciding games, not to all matches in a qualifying campaign.

Good site. aye i agree to a certain extent, but i already pay for sky,and now if i want to watch it,i have to pay even more money Then after reading Stigs re-quote,it infuriates me even more when the rumour is that BBC pay 6 figure sum to watch the Gunners play a qualifier Down the PUB it is then,so its not all bad

Was just about to make the same point.Although I suppose people have Sky for other reasons too, Setanta only shows sports. Except you can get Setanta on Freeview without having to pay stupid prices for a million channels of crap, which is all pay TV is if you ignore the sports.
The Reverend Posted 3 September 2008 Posted 3 September 2008 So basically your don't care because it's not on national TV, it's because you don't have it?Except you can get Setanta on Freeview without having to pay stupid prices for a million channels of crap, which is all pay TV is if you ignore the sports. Especially that Virgin media. They are a pisstake
lavrentis Posted 3 September 2008 Posted 3 September 2008 What benefits can you get from Virgin rather than Sky?
CupidStunt Posted 4 September 2008 Posted 4 September 2008 So basically your don't care because it's not on national TV, it's because you don't have it? I am missing something here? I didnt say i dont care....I am pissed off about having to subscribe to every Channel known to man in order to watch England play. My opinion is of that i dont agree england matches should be auctioned off in the manner they are Going Down the pub is the option i have to watch it for free, getting ratted along the way is a brucie bonus

I agree, it should be available on National TV, but it don't make a difference that its on Setanta instead of Sky really.
Babylon Posted 4 September 2008 Posted 4 September 2008 What benefits can you get from Virgin rather than Sky? On Virgin you get FREE Setanta Sports when on the XL package.... which I am.
Alexikokopops Posted 4 September 2008 Posted 4 September 2008 I love alex' non-biased views Surprisingly enough my views on Setanta are because my parents got rid of Sky when they started living in two houses so I would've killed for something like Setanta where we could just pay £15 on top of Freeview rather than having to fork out £40. Especially that Virgin media. They are a pisstake Seriously, Virgin's full of crap too. All pay TV is! There's just millions of channels of crap! Who actually watches is?! If I didn't get Virgin's XL TV, XL Broadband and XL telephone for £10 a month I wouldn't have it!

That should be their new advertising slogan.
JakeShingler Posted 4 September 2008 Posted 4 September 2008 What benefits can you get from Virgin rather than Sky? I think the Anytime tv thing on Virgin is much better.
Alexikokopops Posted 4 September 2008 Posted 4 September 2008 What benefits can you get from Virgin rather than Sky? You can get BBC iPlayer and 4OD through your TV with Virgin Media, and they have a very good Video On Demand thingy which is free if you have the XL package.
lavrentis Posted 4 September 2008 Posted 4 September 2008 You can get BBC iPlayer and 4OD through your TV with Virgin Media, and they have a very good Video On Demand thingy which is free if you have the XL package. My dad wants to pay cheaper than his sky full package. How much is it for the XL
Alexikokopops Posted 4 September 2008 Posted 4 September 2008 My dad wants to pay cheaper than his sky full package. How much is it for the XL It's £19.50 a month for the XL package on it's own. That's with free Setanta and Video On Demand and BBC iPlayer and 4OD. You have to pay £18 on top if you want all the Sky Sports channels, which makes it a similar price to Sky Sports except with Setanta too. You get better deals if you get bundles. You have to check you're on Cable though, only 55% of the country is (you can blame Cable & Wireless and NTL for that). Lincolnshire's likely to have crap coverage, not enough people live in our fair county. There's more information here.
lildave3 Posted 4 September 2008 Posted 4 September 2008 Can we stop talking about Setanta/Virgin/Sky?! Please! Grrrr.
