Ultra Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Leicesters just the same as Belfast is a strange kind of way Yeah, there are so many dividing walls between communities in Leicester.. But apart from the fact we got rid of most of our bigots 30 years ago... you may just have a point...

Also the uni has been ranked in a survey this week among students as one of the top six in the country. If you do come here, you won't regret it. It's a city on the up, and not just in a football kind of way!
MPH Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 The county of Leicestershire has 3 universities so there is a sense of a very young population. Young area with a lot of students in is called the west end. Also not far from there would be the main narborough Road area almost so close they are considered the same area by many. An area closer to the Leicester University with a lot of Students in is called the Clarendon Park area although you will be mixing with young professionals and a few young families there too. myflatmate.com has many people looking for students to share in the leicester area - Look out for post codes LE2 or LE1 as they are the areas just mentioned that are closest to the Uni. There is of course student accomodation provided by the Uni for your first year if thats the route you want to take. Also private companies with large blocks of flats specifically for students if that appeals to you - 9 month contracts- LE1 Area. Let us know if you want any names or web addresses and we can find you some. Shed loads of shops looking for people who want part time work if you want some.

lavrentis Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 Its very multicultural. I think it has like the highest percentage per population of non white British.
Stevosevic Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 It's tiny as cities go. It's one of the ten biggest cities in England, if not Britain.
