Bert Posted 23 October 2008 Posted 23 October 2008 He found an unusual amount of space on the far post for a fixture and I don't need to raise his profile. Third top scorer and third most prolific shot taker in a side that would be top of the table if it one a game in hand seems to be advertisement enough for a fulcrum midfielder. Oh dear. I can guarentee if Oakley has these records you wouldn't be saying that. It's so hard to not resist replying sometimes, some of the things you bring up are laughable, and no matter what you'll always try and praise your chosen ones more, even if they've made a lesser contribution.
Thracian Posted 23 October 2008 Posted 23 October 2008 Oh dear.I can guarentee if Oakley has these records you wouldn't be saying that. It's so hard to not resist replying sometimes, some of the things you bring up are laughable, and no matter what you'll always try and praise your chosen ones more, even if they've made a lesser contribution. Why on earth would I not praise Oakley's achievements? I've been quite appreciative of him generally this season but there is no doubt in my mind that Oakley gets an easier ride because of his seniority and past history rather than his actual contribution to our matches. As do so many "name" players. Oakley's been better this season than last, no question, but he's still failed to have the individual impact I'd expect either of a captain or a man of his high-grade experience. His couple of goals this season were welcome after a barren time last season and I think that, generally, he and King have worked together quietly but very effectively. However I did expect more from Oakley in a creative sense and imagined he would be a contender for MoM far more times than has been the case. The statistics themselves are there for anyone to see and even based on them rather than the evidence of my own eyes King would seem to have had slightly more impact. Yet King invariably gets a lower player rating. Strange that. At least it's strange until you recall that some fans wanted people like Nielson and Kaebi in the first team for no other reason than that they were established internationals. And even up to his last game some fans wouldn't have a bad word to say about Gareth Williams even though his entire career at Leicester ranged mostly from moderate to poor.
lildave3 Posted 24 October 2008 Posted 24 October 2008 Howard's goal > 'The Dream' Wrongo, it's a close second.
