Or is that aswell as?
dandannieldanok Posted 22 October 2008 Posted 22 October 2008 cos it was a header not a shot!? They count as shots on target normally.
syston_fox Posted 22 October 2008 Posted 22 October 2008 Just seen their first goal again... oh dear. Gilbert mis-judged the cross and then Martin probably should have done better. He just seemed to run to the striker without any attempt to block the ball! And from the highlights, how the hell did we not win that game? The chances were there for the taking and we missed them. At the game it didn't seem like there were many but we should have won that really! Also did anyone notice the "Syston_Fox trademarked cross/shot" that Martin had to tip over?

Because we'd all rather focus on the negative's!! 2-2, coming from behind twice, which we can't have done very often in the past 3-4 years. We showed patience, tried to use the wings, then lumped it up at the end when we needed to. All in all, not a great game, but doing the right things to try and win it. 3rd with a game in hand, lets try supporting rather than wittering all of the time. Lets give a shoeing to the cobblers on saturday
Corky Posted 22 October 2008 Posted 22 October 2008 If we can win the next four home matches and play well I won't be too disappointed with this result. We'll have to get used to teams playing five in midfield and making it hard. We are playing much better away from home this season, where we are given space.
scinnell Posted 22 October 2008 Posted 22 October 2008 I was at the game yestarday, Freezeing my Bollucks off, For what?? A dreadfull 2-2 draw. To be honest they came here with a game plan and they had to score early, To silence are fans, so well done but, Max Gradel was dreadful and Steve howard was iswell. Are game was simple Dyer and Gradel run down the wings cross it over to Howard he heads it in or sets fryatt up with a volley, GOAL!! what is so hard about that?? But insted gradel wanted to do fancy footwork and kept cocking up! Gradel aknd Dyer should get the job done then 3-0 up the they can start showboating. On the other hand Howard was aboulsoulutely dreadfull he missed to sitters, we need to sell him in Januraury and get another striker who can head a ball on target, got pass and is tall, like there striker Rickets, he used to play for Bolton and Middlesbrough, for Bolton he scored 19 goals (it says in the programme) and he scored a amazing header for the 2nd goal. Going back to the Howard thing, in the programme he quouted, He needs to score 18 more goals to get to 200 goals in his carreerand he wants to score 18 goals for Leicester, but with the finishing i saw today he wouldn't get one goal, It was dilbollickle(sorry about spelling). Iswell it was fryatts former club, why did we not set him up 9/10 he would score because he must of wanted to score aganst his former club.

CosbehFox Posted 22 October 2008 Posted 22 October 2008 For what?? A dreadfull 2-2 draw. I remember freezing me panties off last season for plenty of defeats. They were worse than dreadful. Get used to it, we are not going to go through a season winning 46 games and you can get dreadful 1-0 wins too. Ie. Hartlepool at home.
Raj Posted 22 October 2008 Posted 22 October 2008 Howard missed a couple of cracking chances didnt he???

Despite the fact that Fryatt and Howard get so much criticism if they carry on with their league scoring records to date Fryatt will end up with 32 goals, Howard 8, and Dyer 20.
Daggers Posted 22 October 2008 Posted 22 October 2008 *Edit: I don't contribute to match threads if I didn't see the game...so this point is mute.
Lovejoy Posted 22 October 2008 Posted 22 October 2008 Lack of communication is what I blame, Start of the season I saw players shouting, talking, pointing, gesturing - Communicating, Something I haven't seen or noticed for years (It seems), Certainly something we lacked last season, However as games have passed, I have seen less of this communication, Perhaps we should start again. It's not the attitude to have but we have been lucky tonight, due to other results I am happy with a point, the performance was poor which is another reason I will accept a point. I think Walsall will be less happy with a point than we are. The annoying this is, if we won tonight it would have took alot of pressure of the game in hand and we could have made a gap at the top. Oh well, we all knew (We I did anyway) that we wouldn't win every game, we would struggle and play poorly sometime through the season. Must do better on Saturday. C'mon City. Hate to harp on about it, but when Morrison was in the team that happened .
Raj Posted 22 October 2008 Posted 22 October 2008 *Edit: I don't contribute to match threads if I didn't see the game...so this point is mute. Well ditto for me too(Did i mention i couldnt get a shift swap yday and had to miss the game???! )...still think Howard is fat though!! I'll be back later!! <_<
Staf Posted 22 October 2008 Posted 22 October 2008 Dreadful game although i did think Walsall played to their gameplan and looked pretty good up front. Ricketts and Ibehre looked good for them up front and it was worrying how we couldnt deal with him or Ricketts, a little bit worrying that we couldnt deal with them especially with Akinfenwa playing against us on Saturday who will play like Ibehre i just hope we deal with him better than we did with there strikers last night.
demon_dog Posted 22 October 2008 Posted 22 October 2008 That has to be the worst performance in the league by us this season.1 We didn't turn up for the first 30 minutes and found ourselves a goal behind becaus of poor marking at the back post and not closing down their attack further up the pitch. 2 We tried to keep the ball and did so ok. After we scored we looked good but that was only for the last 10 mins of the first half. 3 Whatever was said at half time obviously ddn't work because we fell asleep and conceded a well taken header but again where was the marking? 4 Again after we scored we played well and threatened to win but we left it far too late to apply enough pressure. 5 The central midfield hasn't got enough creativity to break down sides like this. 6 Our strikers lack mobility. 7 The options on the bench were not inspiring. 3 defensve players and a keeper when we are at home. Shows how thin our squad is in certain areas at the moment. 8 Crowd was pretty disgraceful with some of the booing. Overall possibly the dullest 2-2 draw I have ever seen. Pretty much sums the game up. Hope to see a better performance on Saturday.
dandannieldanok Posted 22 October 2008 Posted 22 October 2008 Where was Nicky Adams anyway, not even in the 16. Injured?
Koke Posted 22 October 2008 Posted 22 October 2008 Well, that was a below par performance for our own very high standards. Walsall was there for the taking, but we bollocksed it up. However, instead of focusing on the negatives - as it has already been well publicized in previous pages - I'm just gonna highlight the positives. 1- We showed character and fight. In previous seasons we would have crumbled under the pressure and lost the game. We went down twice, and came back twice. And we did that without hoofing the ball. We kept possession and were patient, and I like to see that. 2- Aleksander Tunchev is playing way below his level. The fact that we've signed a gem like him for a bargain price of 800k should be credited to Nigel Pearson. A footballing centre back who plays the ball on the floor, keeps it simple and reads the game very well. 3- Defensively we are pretty sound. However, we must eliminate those silly schoolboy errors we are making gifting goals away. We can't afford to do that. I know it's a pretty bold statement to make so early in the season, but I do believe we have the best defensive unit in the league. Hobbs, Kisnorbo, Tunchev, Gilbert, Mattock could all be playing Championship football at the very least and not look out of place. But there was plenty of negatives last night i.e. Max Gradel blowing hot and cold, way too inconsistent. Andy King and his sideways and backward passes. The boy got ability and he frustrates the hell out of me by always playing the safe pass. Our strikers have no competition whatsoever. Both Fryatt and Howard are in a comfort zone, knowing whatever performance they put in they got their spots on lock down. We need a striker to be challenging them, to keep them on their toes. Same goes for our midfielders. If we had an attacking midfielder on our books, that'd keep both King and Oakley on their toes, and they'd certainly step up their game. We need to address that as soon as we can. Still, not much damage done, we can still rectify our mistakes by winning on Saturday and winning our game in hand which takes us top of the league. It was a slip last night, and it was bound to happen, but its the reaction to a slip that counts the most in this division. Ta'
Bert Posted 22 October 2008 Posted 22 October 2008 I'll tell you this now and while we're still near the top of the table ... we'll have no chance of promotion playing like we did tonight.I've detailed some of the problems elsewhere but, put at its simplest, we've got to have more speed in the team, faster passing, much more moving and to have players who can and will drive forward in unison. And we've got to cut out the sort of schoolboy errors which see giant strikers receiving crosses in the penalty area with no-one anywhere near them. When you have two one paced centre midfielders playing together, this limits the chances of that.
