Walsall Post Match Thread

First half was awful. Second half we looked better. Dyer and king stood out in a very poor performance.

Stewards managed to spoil my night by constantly telling me to sit on the top row! And even telling these young lads off for picking up their confetti!

I thought Fryatt had on OK game. He had absolutely nothing to work with, the final ball was woeful. Gradel I thought was terrible, he has no left foot, and can't bet his man, Fryatt was having to drop deep to even get a sniff of the ball. Hobbs was extremely poor at the back, Gilbert was offering no support to his winger, Howard missed three great chance. Only people to come out of the performance with any credit were Tunchev and Powell I thought. King was adequate, but we had no answer to Wallsall packing the defence from open play. The fact that we got two goals from set plays shows how vulnerable they were to decent deliveries, we just didn't provide enough of them.

The problem with this division is that no matter how crap we play, we are creating some bloody good chances. Yet we aren't putting them away. It's so frustrating.

As for Fryatt, I find myself trying to run for him - if you get what I mean. It's like watching someone wallowing in treacle.

Lisa! I'm sorry I couldn't hear you. It must have been like trying to talk to someone's Grandad. I think you were either saying to me something about my run, or that you had the runs. One or the other

I was trying to congratulate you on your good run. I, for the record, do not have the runs. I am a lady, and therefore do not poo.

Ah,

I know who you are,

I saw Lisa trying to say something to you with a pie in her hand. lol

I would just like to point out that I wouldn't normally eat during the game, however, apart from a bag of French Fries (less than 100 calories per bag), I hadn't eaten all day!

I think it was the pie that was distracting me

You should have taken it from me. It did not give me any feeling of satisfaction or fulfilment.

Lack of communication is what I blame, Start of the season I saw players shouting, talking, pointing, gesturing - Communicating, Something I haven't seen or noticed for years (It seems), Certainly something we lacked last season, However as games have passed, I have seen less of this communication, Perhaps we should start again.

It's not the attitude to have but we have been lucky tonight, due to other results I am happy with a point, the performance was poor which is another reason I will accept a point. I think Walsall will be less happy with a point than we are. The annoying this is, if we won tonight it would have took alot of pressure of the game in hand and we could have made a gap at the top. Oh well, we all knew (We I did anyway) that we wouldn't win every game, we would struggle and play poorly sometime through the season.

Must do better on Saturday. C'mon City.

That has to be the worst performance in the league by us this season.

1 We didn't turn up for the first 30 minutes and found ourselves a goal behind becaus of poor marking at the back post and not closing down their attack further p the pitch.

2 We tried to keep the ball and did so ok. After we scored we looked good but that was only for the last 10 mins of the first half.

3 Whatever was said at half time obvosly ddn't work because we fell asleep and conceded a well taken header but again where was the marking?

4 Again after we scored we played well and threatened to win but we left it far toolate to apply enough pressure.

5 The central midfield hasn't got enough creativity to break down sides like this.

6 Our strikers lack mobility.

7 The options on the bench were not inspiring. 3 defensve players and a keeper when we are at home. Shows how thin our squad is in certain areas at the moment.

8 Crowd was pretty disgraceful with some of the booing.

Overall possibly the dullest 2-2 draw I have ever seen.

Shit Atmosphere

Shit Game

Tunchev and Hobbs the only people to come out with some credit.

Hobbs had a shocking first half. I'm guessing you were at the other end of the stadium or something. Unless you're stevie wonder? :dunno:

Frustrating but could have quite easily been a defeat and a similar game last season would have probably resulted in one. Tunchev played well, Powell did well, we missed some decent chances but are gonna get games like that this season. We've won enough away from home to deal with the occasional blip and still stay in contention.

I might have expected us to win tonight but still we didn't lose. Interesting to hear how we played from those that went. ;)
I thought it was one of the worst performances of the season we lacked idea's and kept passing the ball backwards.

Tonight can be summed up in one word: frustration.

Performances like the one put on tonight breeds frustration and the opposition take full advantage of it.

We need to go out each and every game and get right in their faces for the first 20 minutes or so of every game. Not this stupid pussy footing about with the football left, right, back, hoof, left, right, back, hoof.

Get right up at em. On the floor. Fast. Pace. Pass and move.

Play like we did tonight, they'll sit back, lap it up, score a fluke, sit back some more and ta thanks very much.

Not good enough.

Bring in Kisnorbo and get rid of Hobbs.

You have to laugh at certain people who text or phone in RL after the match for example:

The worst match I have seen in 20 years

He's obviously not seen any matches over the last few years then :frusty:

sorry, i know powell and gilbert are good but the walsall front 2 just took adavantage of their height everytime which cost us a goal! shocking marking all game today but should have won the game with howard really should have had a hat trick today. nearly won it at the end but gradel got in the way!

What was the point in putting Mattock on when Hayles could of come on. Just trying to please the fans.

More chance of getting forward at that stage than Powell I'd have thought, chasing the game. Barry Hayles.. :S

With the score at 2-1 Pearson is set to put Barry Hayles on. From the corner Tunchev scores.

Right, its 2-2 what do you do. Bring on another striker go for the win and risk a loss trying keep that momentum we had after the first goal. Or not risk and stay for the draw.

Personally fook it bring bad Barry on. Only problem ive had with Pearson so far.

Not good enough tonight, plenty of possesion but we didn't create anywhere enough. I don't think Ince had too many saves to make. Walsall were decent in the first half without creating too much other than the goal.

Patience is not something that happends around The Walkers, i was getting so annoyed with fans shouting "get it forward", "attack" or "get rid of it" when we were keeping the ball around the half way line and then when the players listen to what the crowd say and hoof it, we lose the ball and it is met by groans. Some of the fans were awful tonight, we're second in the league, lost one game and every mis-placed pass is met by boos and groans. I don't think there was need for it, yes we weren't playing well but there's a few young lads out there who were feeling the pressure.
