I tend to think like Thracian that he be better off given a freer role, but would that be detrimental to the rest of the team?

OK he did it at Bournemouth but no disrespect to Bournemouth they didn't have the quality that we have now.

I'd like to see him being used from the bench, you know when maybe when we need to change things around a bit bring him on in that freer role and make the opposition have to change their style of play to adapt.

Apart from Saturday any plan b we supposedly had never troubled the opposition so was rarely much use.

I'm not saying play him from the bench all the time but he does seem to need a bit of a kick up the arse.

Saying that his assists have been useful-managers hey! Who'd be one?

I want to see him given a few games on the left perhaps tonight and Saturday and see what he can do, that's where he played for Bournemouth and the amount he cut inside and then outside the defenders was frightening. 80% of his goals last season bar penalties were from cutting in from the left and ripping shots past the goalie. On the right he tends to cut in on his left peg and his shooting with his left foot isn't too good right now.

Dyer can be rested for the next two cup games, he's been superb and played at full throttle most of the season so it might be wise to give him a rest in these two fairly un-important games given the league is our priority.

He's looked like he needs a rest for a week or 2 now, either that or he's getting more attention from defenders, I'd agree that changing the team and system for two 'nothing' cup games would be a great idea.

most teams now know if they put 2 defenders on him he struggles slightly so hobbs needs to be more supportive to him gradels form will return as soon as his mate gilbert returns they go well together

It wouldn't be detrimenal to the side if it destroyed the unity of an organised defence and if team-mates, particular a full-back, recognised the ploy and immediately slotted in for him.

As a policy City tend to give all players experience of playing in different positions so it shouldn't be hard for seniors to recognise a vacant space and to have sufficient awareness to fill it.

After our decent start, other L1 teams have clearly watched us (or videos of our early games) and now concentrate on marking both Gradel and Dyer out of games. They are clearly seen as danger men and, in a few games, cutting off those supply lines has been successful. This may also explain Howard's relative lack of goals (and perhaps his continued presence in the team is another reason that the opposition look to shut down our wingers).

I think both Dyer and Gradel have the ability to get past markers, but they perhaps need a bit more support from full-backs and central midfield now they are being more closely marked.

I also reckon it would be good for Pearson to mix it up and let the two of them switch wings. I think both could be effective cutting in on their stronger foot, but I would rather do it halfway through a game than start playing Max on the left. Pearson is perhaps a bit more traditional and seems to like to stick with his formation.
