1- We have a good capable squad, short on few positions but over-all we have the right core of players to get us promoted.

2- Nigel Pearson is decent manager. He's not flawless, and he has his short comings, but the early signs are promising. I'm a firm believer that his footballing philosophy is the right one. He has brought the right players in, brought balance to the squad, and for once we have out-and-out wingers in our team.

3- Most of our players are Championship standard, bar one or two maybe. Let's not beat the bush about this in fear of offending opposition fans.

4- We have a squad of footballers (OK, maybe not Kisnorbo), but we don't have the McAuley's and Maybury's of this world at our club anymore - Ipswich fans are demanding a refund on McAuley.

5- The oppositions are inferior to us. This is not being arrogant, this is being real. Most people pussyfoot around this subject, but let's face it. All our players, bar one or two again, would walk straight into any eleven in this league. And on top of that, they would not look out of place in the Championship.

6- We play good football (ignoring the past few games) and good football usually means success. Swansea is a perfect example.

7- Matty Fryatt will score 20 goals. And Steve Howard will get us at least 10. Lloyd Dyer will also get 10.

8- We got the financial muscle over most teams. Leeds and Peterborough are the only ones who can compete with us in the transfer market.

9- We are a big fish in a small pond.

10- We've got Aleksander Tunchev.

If we fail to get promoted, please feel free to bump this thread and lynch me.

bollox to that - the current squad would really struggle in the championship - live in the real world! another post from a bloke suffering delusions of grandeur

We are going up. I can tell you that much. :)

Seriously..

Gilberts, Kisnorbo, Tunchev, Powell/Mattock

Gradel, King, Oakley, Dyer

Howard, Fryatt

I reckon we could hold our own in the Championship with that team.

we are starting to struggle now!!! I reckon Wolves, Brum, in fact nearly all of the Champ teams.......... would turn us over

I respectfully disagree.

The main problem we have right now is breaking stubborn teams down. We wouldn't that problem in the Championship. Nobody holds us in high regard up there, like they do down here. We're just one of many in the Champs.

True - but we have shown absolutely no idea how to do it, no change of team structure and no change of play. The only thing we have done is to adopt a really crap long ball style that is aimless and fails to take on board the aspect that makes it successful...pressing.

Every team has understood that they have to close down and be physical - in this department we have to match them or outplay them on the floor. We are doing neither.

They all have our measure - we are still to produce an answer.
