Thracian Posted 30 November 2008 Posted 30 November 2008 Just that maybe you should give credit where it's due sometimes when a player other than King produces a moment of magic. Many times we've read on here how King has had a bad game and you've brought up the fact that he had a hand in a goal to save himself from a poor performance rating. This time the boot is on the other foot and it was Edworthy who had a poor game but still set up a goal but that seems to have been overlooked by yourself. It just appears that there is a lack of consistancy in your reporting of certain players compared to others. Do you and Hullfox seriously believe I would conveniently neglect to mention an assist of Edworthy's as a deliberate means of playing him down to justify some point of my own? No-one denies or begrudges him his assist. But your comments and those of Hullfox conveniently forget that I've made stacks of positive comments about veteran players this season, especially Howard and Oakley. I didn't mention Edworthy's assist quite simply because I hadn't seen the replay of the goals and wasn't sure who did what in build-ups and it hadn't been detailed in any reports I'd read. The same applied to others including King. It's not as if I've been especially critical of Edworthy anyway in his spell here so far but I think he lacks the pace and recovery powers to be a genuinely attacking full-back. For those who see full-backs as principally defenders some won't mind but I think full-backs have a key role and need to be both fast and durable. Yesterday was the worst I've sen him play for us and, before you carp, I'd say the same about King, and probably Tunchev, Morrison, Dyer and Berner as well, with Adams not that far behind! In fact, whatever the many and varied reasonsmight be, we might be winning these days but for much of the time we're playing crap. Dagenham's pace and movement were to be envied for an hour or so.
Corky Posted 30 November 2008 Posted 30 November 2008 Thoroughly enjoyable match, and the fans who didn't attend (for whatever reason) missed our second entertaining FA Cup match so far. The defending was shocking, and fair play to Dagenham, who came to attack and got forward in numbers. Credit to us though for bouncing back quickly on both occasions we went behind, heads didn't drop and there was no air of complacency. Fryatt scored a very good hat-trick, fabulous control, turn and finish for the first, and an excellent flick for his third. 19 goals so far- he's answered his critics and is looking far sharper and confident than I've seen him before. You don't get any points, and goal difference doesn't count- going through is all that matters, and we've avoided a potential upset.
Simi Posted 30 November 2008 Posted 30 November 2008 Thoroughly enjoyable match, and the fans who didn't attend (for whatever reason) missed our second entertaining FA Cup match so far. No we didn't. We had a perfect stream.
Corky Posted 30 November 2008 Posted 30 November 2008 No we didn't.We had a perfect stream. Ok, those that didn't attend and didn't have access to an online stream of the game
Corky Posted 30 November 2008 Posted 30 November 2008 We missed Oakley- and I didn't think I'd say that a few weeks ago. Martin, Howard and Fryatt were our best players. The whole defence had a collective nightmare, Lloyd and Adams were quiet and the central midfield did sod all.
foxaholic Posted 1 December 2008 Posted 1 December 2008 it really is laughable i hope dag & red are happy with there little payout when they could have had more by keeping ticket prices low & the attendance up They get more from 8000 at 15 quid than 20000 at a fiver
