lavrentis Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 Manchester Utd away, might even get to see Ronaldo and rooney on the bench. wooo
teblin Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 Decent prem team or forest or derby at home please.
RowlattsFox Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 Lucky to win today, its a good job Fryatt was in clinical mood else we would have lost. Fair play to dagenham, was nice to see a team come and play football and try to win the game, their front two linked up very well. The defence was awful first half, they were lethargic and lazy and they thought that they just had to turn up, once they realised they were in a game they did well. King and Berner were awful in the middle of the park, no energy, poor passing and Fryatt and Howard were excellent. The first goal was brilliant from Fryatt, the touch on the turn was Berbatov-esque and the third was a good finish. Martin kept us in it today, could maybe have parried the shot wide that led to the second goal though. Glad we're through, but we were given a scare.
marbelladave Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 I was watching it online so it may have been the dodgy stream made us look like we were moving a little quicker Canal+ on Hotbird (still have my Sanish subscription), slightly delayed online commentary. Presumably the same TV coverage that was online. Loose, open game, we gave them loads of space and they made decent use of it. We made a few chances and scored 3, they made more chances but only scored twice. Matty Fryatt was the difference today. Just don't play like that when it matters in the league!
Thracian Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 Seen the reply he was offside on the disallowed goal. Yes, I know, but he was still first to the ball and more alert than anyone else in our team, as well as their defence.

King and Berner got no help from either the wide men or the front 2 and were outnumbered. Really missed Oakley. Martin was very good at times, yet still pretty much gave away their second 3rd round might be fun if we get a decent draw.
Sods Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 Im going to be pissed off if we get any of the big four! fook that. Barrow away.
Munzie Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 That was bloody freezing today. My nuts fell off twice! As for the match, the final scoreline flatters a very poor performance in general by Leicester City. Hats off to Dag & Red for giving it a go (as we always presumed). They are a very quick side when they go forward, especially down the flanks. There seemed to be a yellow shirt occupying most of the pitch today. When are we going to stop having to rescue a game after putting ourselves in the predicament in the first place? That said, bring on Premiership opposition. We always play better against a big team.
SamL Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 Any ground I haven't been to please. Bet there's not many you haven't been to. Any Premier League side away for me, although we'll end up getting someone like Southampton away.
davieG Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 Only 3 players earn't their porridge, Fryatt, Howard & Martin. The defence were totally pedestrian and severely out paced, the midfield non-existent, was Dyer even out there? Let's hope it was just an off day because I was very worried about how easily our defence was sidelined by a competent Division 4 forward line. Their team and in particular their midfield had so much movement and fluidity compare to our stuttering lot.
Sods Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 To be honest I enjoyed the game. I knew Dagenham would come out and play as they can't defend. They have a few good attacking players which seemed to have the better of our defence for the first half. Was very impressed with Matt Ritchie. But fair play to us as well as we didn't hide away, Matty Fryatt is becoming very reliable for us, even though I did think he would miss his penalty. Thought we did the job, defence had a bit of nightmare but got there in the end. Steve Howard had a great game, can't wait till he bags one in.
Benjani Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 There number 3 was quality. Just looked into him and he is on loan from Portsmouth. Worth a punt? The game - i thought Mattock had a good game but Tunch and morrison were poor. Morrison kept passing long ball after long ball which went nowhere and Tunchev kept passing it back to Martin. I can see a goal being given away sooner or later if we keep passing it back to the goalie. King was a shambles. Davies couldn't get into the game when he came on but had a few good touches. Still we are through to the next round and can't complain too much. Fryatt needs a new contract sorted out, all his goals were quality today.
syston_fox Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 Spurs or Man Utd away please. On the game though - fair play to D&G. They thoroughly deserved to have the lead twice and we needed David Martin to save us on a few occasions with some great saves. And as for their number three Matt Ritchie - arguably the best performance I've seen from an opponent so far this season. Thought he was brilliant and seemed to have been everywhere. Scored one, had the initial shot for the second goal and forced Martin into two great saves.
Joe. Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 Chelsea Dagger hit a new low today. Did you see that one particular moron dancing in front of us?
Benjani Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 Agreed. It's got to the point now when you are kind of hoping we don't score again to save the embarrasment. You can't celebrate properly at home. Today was the last time I will be attending at home again this season.
Maybes Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 Chelsea Dagger hit a new low today. What was the attendance? I hate chelsea dagger.
Thracian Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 What was the attendance?I hate chelsea dagger. Close to 7,800 I believe.
Sods Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 Did you see that one particular moron dancing in front of us? Yep. There was loads of them out today! I booed. What was the attendance?I hate chelsea dagger. 7000 and something.
loverofinsanefox Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 What was the attendance?I hate chelsea dagger. 7,791 I'm led to believe!
Ultra Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 It wasn't quite as bad as the Rotherham or Lincoln games. But most of the side, Fryatt and Martin apart, did not cover themselves with glory. We were repeatedly undone, especially in the first half, by breaks from midfield. None of the midfield quartet seemed willing to do any tracking back whatsoever. Yes, Howard did win a few aerial challenges (as well as give away free-kicks). But how often did he find a blue shirt with them? Adams was probably the worst player on show today. I'd be surprised if we see much more of him this season. At least we made it through to round 3, and I'm not bothered who we get in the draw, as long as it's at home.
reynard Posted 29 November 2008 Posted 29 November 2008 We just didn't look interested. Glad to be through but it is games like this that really show up the paucity of the depth of the squad. Neither full back position looks to be well covered. The central midfield is very very poor. I never thought I would say we would miss Oakley but today we did. King especially looked totally lost. If Dyer has a poor game then that shows. We may be top of the league and through to the 3rd round but we are being carried by a very few players (Fryatt, Dyer, Tunchev)> Two of those had a bad game today and it really showed. We need more depth in midfield and we have to hae two strikers who can score. Credit to Dagenham they had the two of the three best players on the pitch and without Fryatt would have won. Not only was their no.3 excellent but their no.7 put in some of the best dead ball free kicks and corners I have seen this season in fact far better than anything we can muster.
