My mate and his dad, myself and my old man, are heading to the Nou camp on the 3rd of January to watch them play Mallorca as a 18th b-day present for us both. Never been before, anyone have any tips on where to go before the game, about the tours, or shirts? Or just anything about the trip it self really.

Be carefull on the undeground as there are pickpockets etc about.. The Underground which I think is called the Metro if I remember correctly. Barcelona is a nice city. Enjoy

On the Underground Ticket you can get a unlimted travel ticket which allows up to 5 people on every 1 ticket for around 10 Euros.

Bars, there's a lot of them. Tour is pretty good, don't get to go in as many parts of the ground as the bernabeu one but the museum is much less cringwrothy. Buy a shirt? Don't? Odd question.

Been to the nou camp twice. Really aint all that. fook all atmosphere. You'll be sitting with a load of tourists or a load of spaniards complaining about the number of tourists. It will probably be decent if they do them 5-0 or something though. See if Espanyol are playing on the same weekend and if you can fit that in as well. I enjoyed that a lot more than the Barcelona game.

I second this. I went to the Andorra V England game in September I thought Espanyols ground was good, plus the surroundings of the area worth a visit.

Go drinking in Placa Sol in Gràcia (fontana metro stop)rather then around the Ramblas, much cheaper and no tourists with loads of Spanish birds.

Eldorado

Plaça Sol 4, situated in one of the most lively plazas in the Gràcia neighborhood, with a terraza, billiards, fooball, pinball, music, and dancing.

Woody Bar

Plaça Sol 7, traditional champañería in the busiest plaza in Gràcia, gathering spot for a youthful alternative crowd.

It's pretty much the same from the two games I've been to.

Of course you'll enjoy it cus it's watching a match in a massively more impressive ground and it's some of the best players in the world but if you go expecting to a buzz to match the quality of team, you'll be dissapointed. Barcelona banned their main ultra group and OAPs make up a ridiculous amount of the crowd.

It's not important though because the game is only 90 minutes of your holiday and Barcelona is a crackin city to explore/drink.

The tour is the shittest thing in the world and I would not recommend going on it if it was free

It isn't that bad.

You get more access than you do at most stadiums.

I have done it 5 times, maybe a little too much, I am back in Barcelona in Feb and will more than likely do it again.

Like I have mentioned before, we go to a game every year, It is our own little mini Barca Fan Club (mini as in 5-7 of us)

Enjoy the trip, stay away from La Rambla's dark side streets at night and watch out for the black hookers trying to entice you.

I would highly recommend the Olympic Village also, Espanyol's ground is there and you can just walk in for nothing, It is a nice stadium as well.

Soak it up. One of the World's greatest cities. Someone at work goes 6 times a year, she loves that much.

I did the Tour and thought it wasn't too bad. Also drove past Espanyol's ground - a smashing ground (soon to be vacanted by Espanyol). Lovely area around the Olympic village - scenery is incredible on top of the hill. Sat there eating a Jamon Bocadillo. Beautiful

Not a fan of Las Rambles personally - bit too seedy, bit too dark. I can imagine it looking beautiful at about 8.30am. Florida Street is incredible as is Gaudi's works across the city (maybe that's what inspired me into my job). Incredible place.

But be weary of the thieves and distraction artists. Romanian gangs are rife along the coast. Keep your wits about you in that respect.

As for the atmosphere, it was superb against Real and it very rarely tops that. Highbury esque.
