SOCCERROO FOX Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 Any one play? What site? any stories good or bad
Alexikokopops Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 Look for good sign-up bonuses. My mate had about 3 accounts with the majority of poker sites on the sly to get different bonuses. He played a lot. Maybe. I don't actually know anything about online poker really.
The Blur Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 Two words: Facebook Poker Seriously, www.pkr.com is an excellent choice especially its tournamnet format, all players start with 1000 chips and when you ran out of the chips then you are knocked out. The last man standing win, it can feature up to 500 players. You can also customize your player and make gestures and many more. However you have to download it first and you need a decent processor to run it.

No one serious about playing went on there. That might not be the case anymore. Although to be fair I can't imagine Roo being that serious.

Im keen to play some tournament just small $20-30 entry fees.

PKR can also do that as well However I don't know too much about their actual sum of the money that you can play around with You'll be better off waiting for more users to post on this thread before coming to a conclusion
fox123 Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 The poker sites from the likes of VCBET, Ladbrokes, William Hills and Corals all run from the same server. So if you think you are only playing people that are from that particular site think again. The servers on said poker sites are based I believe in somewhere in the Caribbean. It doesn't really matter which poker site you go to, as Alex said, it's about looking at which offer best bonuses. There is a poker comparison site, here where you can make your own mind up.
fox123 Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 Can someone teach me how to play... Beginners guide here
Darkzzz_ Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 Beginners guide here Wow, I wasn't expecting someone to help me out. I will blame you if I lose my car, my house and my missus.

Just don't chuck your deeds and keys into the pot! In honesty, when I play Poker I go onto the tournament Sit 'n' Go's. Pay a one of fee of around 80p (50 Seater) and the top ten get paid out. I have won quite a few of those and you are only staking a set amount.

I will have a good read of this website you linked me to first though.
Vardinhio Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 I'm a pkr regular, it's great fun. Some horrible bad beats on it recently though. The worst being losing AA to A5 pre flop.

Daggers Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 I understand poker - I don't understand playing online.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 I used to play a lot - not with a great deal of sucess most of the time, but like to think i know a thing or two. Pokerroom was my site of choice - there graphics looked a bit more professional than Party Poker, although I have played there. I found that the standard on Party Poker was terrible though - you'd think that would want me to play more there, but there were so many bad players it was really off putting, because you didn't know where you are. And of course a bad player wouldn't realise you're making a brilliant bluff. (eg they have a pair of 3's, you play like your waiting for a flush draw, and it comes, so bet accordingly - they won't understand that and just carry on calling with their 3's) I went on a bit of a break, and I'm now annoyed the Pokerroom have changed their sign in procedures and I can't get it - Grrrr. So to feed my addiction I have checked out Betfair. It's ok, but i find something missing. I've played PKR too - too much fannying about on that site, makes it hard to concentrate. Plus the user 'actions' can get annoying after a while and mean nothing. When I stopped at Pokerroom the american's had just been kicked out - i'm not too sure if they've been allowed back in now, or found a back door. Couple of other general things - the big 50+ player multi table tournies - until you get decent are hard to win money at. Start with a few sit and go's, see if you can place in those. Some sites offer heads up games - they can be good for winning, if you are decently skilled. Then there are the ring games - These are full of sharks, and the no-limit tables are a good place to lose a lot of money fast. My advice - only go into these if you've become a pro, or you have some spare change in the account. Clearly online poker, you don't have the same type's of tell's as a live game. Pokerroom had a community, where tips and advice was posted, which came in handy and made sense. (eg raising your decent hands, how to play your position etc.) Read up on these, and you should find you can get into profit on good days. Last thing - all sites claim to be fair - therefore cards come out in equally quantaties. However, to get people out, big hands have to hit each other at times, so you quite often see pairs of Queens face Aces and the like. And be prepared for bad beat, after bad beat, especially if you don't protect your decent hands. (and sometimes even if you do.)

SOCCERROO FOX Posted 24 December 2008 Author Posted 24 December 2008 I don't know how but i came third in a tournament which got me $100usd if i won i would have got entry to a tournament with $300k minimum prize money

(Unless it was cash plus ticket.) Problem with the tickets to the 'big tournies' is that they always tend to start at a really akward time, and have a load of pro's in them and take about 24 hours to get anywhere near being resolved.
