Colin Gibson (born April 6, 1960 in Bridport, Dorset) is an English former football player. He was an attacking left-back who could also play in midfield. Gibson suffered from a partially paralysed face.[citation needed]

Gibson started his career with Aston Villa where he won the 1st Division in 1980/81 followed by the European Cup and European Super Cup in 1982 before being transferred to Manchester United in 1985. He helped United win the 1990 FA Cup. He left the club in 1990 for Leicester City after scoring 9 goals for the club.

He is now a commentator on BBC Radio Leicester for the live coverage of Leicester city matches. After news of the sacking of Craig Levein, he declared his interest in the manager's job live on air. Caretaker manager Rob Kelly was eventually given the job on a permanent basis.

I didn't know either of those 2 things about him - the paralysed face thing or his interest in the job.

Yeah, I thought it was Steve Walsh - perhaps they've got mixed up.

Gibson's been sniffing around a few times on Radio Leciester when we've been managerless. Not sure if he's got any previous though, or whether he's just like Walsh and wants a crack at it without having to do the hard work in the lower / non leagues.

Yes both of these things are true. However he never made an official effort for the managers job. He only made a public statement that he wanted it. It was last year when he had a mini stroke.

Gibbo has only ever been my hero once.......... that was in about 1991 / 92 ish when we played Wolves away and he scored a 30 yard screamer on a cold, dark Wednesday night when we were 3 - 0 down in the Black country. I might be talking complete bollocks but I reck Bull got a hatrick that night......... not that I give a toss.

I miss old Lovejoy. A little story - Boxing Day 1993 Leicester 4 - 4 Watford. I was sat in the east stand with my dad and cousin. Gibbo walks to take a throw in right in front of us and my cousin shouts (something along the lines of) "Get a move on Lovejoy!". Gibbo shouts back (out of breath) "It ain't easy doing this you know!".

Nothing I know, funny at the time when I was 13 years old!
