Matt Posted 29 December 2008 Posted 29 December 2008 Foxes assessing Fryatt's injury.Leicester City striker Matty Fryatt is being assessed by club's medical staff after limping off at half-time in their 2-1 victory over Hereford on Sunday. Fryatt took a knock to the ankle but it is not believed to be serious. Assistant manager Craig Shakespeare told BBC Radio Leicester: "He will be assessed by our medial staff and we're hoping it's not serious. "We don't want to make it worse but we've got a ready-made replacement in Paul Dickov chomping at the bit." "A ready-made replacement in Paul Dickov"? Rightio. Maybe its because he's not had many matches this season or been injured, e.t.c, but Dickov has looked shocking every time i've seen him this season, If he can't catch the opposition who has the ball he just swings a leg and trips them up, you could tell he was tempted to do it yesterday when he was chasing a player near when I sit, really not sure who or why we brought him back. I'd rather throw DJ in over Dickov, DJ isn't scoring like Dickov, but I feel DJ would scare, threaten and run at oppositions defenses more.

Edmund Posted 29 December 2008 Posted 29 December 2008 Something tells me its more down to dickov on a big salary and its more of a case of mandaric saying to pearon "So Matty's injured, lets play paul". "Yes Boss" Mandaric has seen a lot of money wasted since his time here and doesn't want the laughing stock to continue but saying that dj cost a fair bit. Anyway I would rather see dj playing but hopefully nigel and co know best.

Glad i'm not the only one, Me slagging Dickov is aside from my dislike of him, within reason anyone that plays for Leicester I want to do well, Them doing well = Leicester should be doing well, but Dickov really is useless from what i've seen of him this season. I think it's a Milan decision bring him back here, and I said that when he first was brought back here, Early in the season I even thought there was a conspiracy that there was a clause in his contract forcing us to play him.
Jimmy Posted 29 December 2008 Posted 29 December 2008 he age seems to of finally caught up with him, however its not really fair to judge on cameo's if he got a run of starts it would be better but unless Fryatt or Howard sustains a serious injury that isn't likely to happen

lcfcmad2005 Posted 31 December 2008 Posted 31 December 2008 you havent given him a chance all hes been doing is coming off the bench for cameo appearences he started in the cup game at fulham and scored and when he was at Blackpool last season in THE CHAMPIONSHIP he was banging them in and he scored two against Leicester!!

The five minutes he got away at Leeds was enough to convince me that he is not only not up to it, but doesn't care. Fryatt and Howard had been hounding their back 4 all game and the intensity up top was miraculously lost when Dickov's 'fresh legs' were introduced. He didn't close down at all and gave them space from which to build attacks. This was further proof that the Dickov we have now is not the Dickov of old. The guy's a waste of space and I get the impression that he probably has a negative effect on the team. And regarding the whole 'it's not his fault he was sold' thing, if anybody on here seriously thinks that Dickov wasn't trying to engineer a move away asap as soon as we got relegated then they need their head examined.
Koke Posted 31 December 2008 Posted 31 December 2008 People who was at the Hereford game saw a glimpse of the hopelessly excuse of a partnership between Howard and Dickov. It was as if they had never met each other - Dickov is not the answer as replacement. His age as caught up with him big time.

If you believe the rumour I heard when he left (and it's a rumour I don't have any proof of, but choose to believe it) he had already bought a house up north near Blackburn a few weeks before the end of that season, Coincidentally. Give DJ a go, Please. He's not scored many, but neither had Dickov, and DJ provides more imo - Just to reiterate that
