Are you for real?

You tell me how some fighting or whatever's going on over in Palestine will affect us in England then.

It will cause more ill feeling towards the west in the middle east which will lead to more attempts to disrupt life in the west, you may remember dates like 9/11, 7/7 etc.

Don't get me started on bloody protests. My students' union are world renowned for spending too much time on issues they have no chance of changing, and not enough time on reducing the price of beer in the bar.

Don't get me wrong, they've every right to protest against NATO, Israel, Republicans if they feel strongly about it. But it pisses me off when they do it under the banner of all the students in our university.

Get used to it.

Look what governments do in our name.. :(

It's the platform students find to first announce their presence in the world as aspiring adults of conscience. But it's what Gordon Brown/Tony Blair did too.

They also found time to do the usual student stuff - drinking, sleeping around, etc.

I think Brown at one stage may have moved in with a Romanian princess...

What be the point of having an opinion on that Bush fella - he's an Ocean away from us. He can't make any decisions that affect our lives. Leave the poor fella be.

And also, them Africans that are struggling for water, why are we helping them again? They're not from Leicester for goodness' sake.

Well I'm not even going to comment on that or I'll get slaughtered

I think, DB11, this sheds some light on why we should be concerned about Palestine

It will cause more ill feeling towards the west in the middle east which will lead to more attempts to disrupt life in the west, you may remember dates like 9/11, 7/7 etc.

Their fighting between each other and so it will make them dislike the west? Which they seem to do anyway because we have more resources and better quality of life than them (jealousy)

As with most student politicians, the lot who run our union got in to the job for entirely the wrong reasons. They only care about their positions as they offer them a platform to push their own political agendas, while the rest of us are left wondering what they're doing to help the students who elected them into office in the first place.

Hence the reason why I usually always spoil my ballot in any election.

If you read up a bit on the History of Israel and its founding, you may start to learn something.

For now, as you know nothing, I would keep quiet or continue to make yourself look like an unwiped arse.

I can't beleive this but for once i agree with DB11. What the fook are they protesting in Leicester for ? Like seriously who the fook would listen and care about a couple of idiots protesting in town ? Hardly like Isreal are gonna find out about this and changed their minds.

Also this has nothing to do with us what so ever, People who think this will affect us, are typical pc morons. Its not gonna spark of another 9/11 or a 7/7.

Bringing the US and the UK into this pathetic war makes no sence. I know the US bankroll israel but they don't make their decisions.

Unfotunately, some of the middle eastern countries don't agree, especially their extremists.

It's a funny thing about Africans. They always seem to find the money to buy quite sophisticated weapons - even some of the guns the kids carry are awesome - but they can't find a few bob for irrigation systems, removing cataracts, transport systems from the outlying neighbourhoods, etc.

And it often seems amazing how much their leaders seem to sod off with when they're finished compared to the poverty of so many of their subjects.

Besides, last I heard, the Chinese were the major players in Africa. I mentioned it at the time and took a bit of stick. :D They seemed set on bleeding her like an old style quack. I'm sure their conscience would not allow the Africans to suffer in any way!

We, meanwhile, are going to need our money, assuming there's any left that's worth even the still-damp paper it is written on, when Gordon has finished. We'll need it to look after our own destitute.

Yes I know about the 100,000 jobs. But the estimated job losses to come seem to have gone up from 600,000 to a million according to today's newspapers so by toay's reckoning he's gonna fall about 9/10ths short.

Wedgwood are the latest big name to have gone into liquiidation. To be honest I knew they would go way before Christmas but Wedgwood has survived not just for 100 years but for 250 years. Very few companies have been around and weathered all storms for that long.

Two hundred and fifty years of employing people and being of service to everyone from royalty to the common man... a company that is truly an outstanding part of British history ... finally ground into the dust.

Whether someone else will dive in and take up the reins on the back of such an illustrious brand name remains to be seen. But I'd really question whether anyone could make a business work better than people who have had 300 years of experience, much of it on a global stage.

Whatever, it is yet another nail in the coffin of UK manufacturing and I truly wonder if there will be anything left of the "Great" part that is Britain by the time this Government is finished and leaves someone else the unenviable task of clearing up the mess.

We are nothing more than a giant distribution centre, one big warehouse.

In a nutshell Israel was formed in 1948 with backing from the West on historically Palestinian land. Israel is backed heavily by the West currently. Palestine is an Arabic country and not "the West".

To be honest, I blame the Swedes. Do I buy overpriced crockery that is not to my taste, or do I buy something cheap, cheerful and wonderfully simple from Ikea?

Just noticed this because Lisa quoted it. This is an open question, not just aimed at Thracian. Does anyone know anyone who actually buys Wedgewood? We were talking about it and no one at work did. Do people still buy those little figurines and the like?

In what way does their opinion on this issue make them PC morons? :crylaugh::dunno:
