My young persons railcard expired on 23rd December 2008. I am 26. I can't renew it.

Getting railcard is the first thing I got when I became a student again and I'm way over 26.

Answer? Become a mature student and get a railcard

I'm definitely in for the TPH/Flynny love-in in Bristol.

OMG SLUMBER PARTYYYY!

Fez and I will be about too I imagine. Not sure where we're loving in, but it sure as hell will be lovely.

There's always the old bath/pillow treatment or the aforementioned kitchen chairs if you need somewhere to crash.

Naked in my bath would be quite a surprise for the rest of my floor. Probably an arrestable offence too. Doesn't your brother know the warden here though? That could come in handy.

Ah course. Top/tail is never gay. Except when you're drunk and fall asleep before switching, thats pretty rough when you wake up in the morning.

There's 4 baths between 8 on this coridoor. :D

I once slept top and tail with a guy known only as "Gay Dan" in a single bed after our Sport Federation Ball at Uni. One of the best nights sleep I've ever had. Now, some might say it was the bottle of wine we drank on the 10 minute walk from the ball to the bed but deep down we all know it was the top and tailing that did it.

James, book a few days before and get singles each way from £9 - If your journey time is flexible and you ring up as far in advance as you can you'll get a non-open (single) train in each direction for less than 20 quid. Just don't miss it or buying on the day becomes tres cher........

Does anyone know how much a weekly/monthly train pass would cost me from Leicester - London, I would be commuting on a daily basis.

Also any ideas on tube fairs/how long it would take from Kings Cross - Holland Park

Last year I looked into this as I have a property opposite the train station........ 750 quid a month, if the company is not paying your travel you need to be earning 50k and really wanting to live in Leicester.......

Look at the tube journey planner for the tube times for Kings X to Holland Park.

I thought about moving down there for a week, coming back at week-ends, but family circumstances that can't be the case. Will have to discuss with company at interview stage if they are prepared to help with travelling expenses. Thanks for info anyway.

According to National Rail's season ticket calculator the prices are as follows:

7 Days £201.10

1 Month £696.20

3 Months £2,088.60

6 Months £4,177.20

12 Months £7,252.00

Then you'd pay £4.40 to get from King's Cross to Holland Park (£2.20 to get between zones 1 and 2 at peak rate), taking about 20 minutes each way.

Edit: You can usually get a travel card with your season ticket which generally works out cheaper than using an Oyster yourself.

Nice one thanks for that. My mate currently works for the NHS down there, and gets £3000 plus per annum for living in London. Is that the same for Private Sector or just Public Sector workers?

Inner / Outer London weighting usually associated with public sector jobs but some private companies do it and call it something else.... The extra cash isn't really just for travel though as in London one is raped every time one steps out for a sandwich.

Some firms do pay more just for living in London. My mate got £4000 extra and he worked for a Private firm. I don't get any extra than when I worked just south of Reading (for the same company in the same department) but that's only because they were paying over the odds for people who lived in Reading.

Thanks for help, again. Lets hope I can persuade them to help subsidise my travel arrangements, should I be successful.
